Apeel-covered fruits and vegetables spoil slower and require less refrigeration, and the plant-derived peel reduces the use of plastic and other products harmful to the planet. Apeel pulls material from the natural skins, peels, seeds, and pulp found on fruits and vegetables, to create the extra protective peel. The thin layer slows down water loss and oxidation, which can help keep those fruits and vegetables from browning and spoiling.

About This Role

The Logistics team is responsible for ensuring that Apeel Sciences’ product, equipment, and supplies are properly stored and arrive at their final destination safely, legally, on-time, and at a low cost.  We are seeking a motivated Logistics Intern who will support the improvement and development of processes and metrics utilizing the new Oracle ERP platform and other tools.  The program dates for summer 2021 are from June 14th - August 20th (10 weeks). To qualify for this program applicants must be currently enrolled in an accredited US college or university and have at least one semester remaining following the internship program.  Additionally during the program dates interns must reside in a state where Apeel is registered to do business: Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Washington or Wisconsin.

What You’ll Do

• Research and develop tools to support and enhance logistics and trade compliance functions utilizing Oracle base ERP
• Evaluate both the Oracle Global Trade Management and the Logistics modules to determine potential benefits and return on investment
• Interview members of several cross functional teams to better understand their relationship with Logistics and Trade Compliance in order to draft or make improvements to different shipping procedures
• Draft SOPs for HS Code Classification, Country of Origin Determination, ECCN and License Determinations
• Analyze historical freight data to determine shipping trends and proposed efficiencies to the current process
• Perform day-to-day logistics tasks of making bookings, creating shipping and compliance documents, and tracking shipments

What You Bring 

• Are currently pursuing an AA, AS, BA or BS degree
• Enthusiasm for global logistics and trade compliance
• Highly analytical with attention to detail
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency using Microsoft Office programs
  • Excel:  Pivot tables, lookups, data manipulation and analysis
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Highly organized and with a strong ability to manage multiple priorities in parallel with each other
• Takes ownership to drive projects and assignments through to prompt and effective completion
• Highly committed to collaborative teamwork
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• ERP experience is beneficial
• Eager to learn and take direction
