About the Role:

The Calibration, Analytics Ready Data and InterOperability (CARDIO) operations team enables the generation of accurate and interoperable products from Planetscope satellites. There are multiple methods used to characterize image quality and ensure accuracy; from celestial maneuvers to harmonization of earth-facing on-orbit imagery. The work of the CARDIO team is performed at scale and affects millions of images and terabytes of data. 

The intern position will focus on exploring and developing new applications of the Planet Fusion product. Planet Fusion integrates the best features from both public and private satellite sensor resources using a rigorous methodology to enhance, harmonize, inter-calibrate, and fuse cross-sensor data streams.

As a CARDIO intern, your possible focus areas include :

   - Explore synergies between SAR (Sentinel-1) and Planet Fusion (optical) based time series data

   - Implement and apply existing change detection tools to Planet Fusion time series data

   - Validate Planet Fusion Surface Reflectance against ground truth observations

   - Explore the use of SkySat data for precision ag via Planet Fusion integration

   - Support Planet Fusion code refactoring and optimization

  • Demonstrate new ways to extract and expose value from Planet Fusion based imagery
  • Help develop new Planet Fusion related capabilities

What You Bring:

You’re a software developer, data scientist, or student with programming and analysis experience

What Makes You Stand Out:

  • A passion for Programming, Remote Sensing, Earth Sciences, and Geography
  • Python development experience 
  • Familiarity with remote sensing data
  • Hands-on, can-do attitude, great interpersonal skills, and ability to collaborate effectively
