Job Description

At Volta we’re on a mission to accelerate the adoption of the electric vehicle. Volta creates city-wide electric vehicle charging networks in major metropolitan areas. Our charging networks are free-to-use, free to our property partners, and monetized through brand sponsorships and digital media content.
The challenge to efficiently plan a network of EV charging stations in a city or across the country is one that needs to take into account many different factors and dimensions such as shifting cost, utilization and market growth metrics even before taking into consideration Volta’s differentiating and industry-disrupting business model.
As Senior Analyst, Network Intelligence, you will develop and communicate insights that allow Volta to expand its charging station network more rapidly and profitably. Your work will directly drive decisions about how and where we grow our network, synthesizing internal and external data sources as well as qualitative insights to create actionable strategies. Potential projects might include analysis of new markets or verticals to enter, development of evaluation and approval processes, and partnering with other teams to implement strategies and track execution. This role will require a high degree of intellectual curiosity, experience framing and answering business questions using analytical tools, and the ability to own and drive your work.
This position will be based in San Francisco and will report to Director, Network Intelligence.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify and prioritize strategic analyses to pursue
  • Own projects through their entire lifecycle, from scoping to work planning, providing regular status updates, analyzing data, synthesizing findings, and presenting results to leadership and cross-functional partners
  • Understand the context of a project, identify the key questions, and come up with a plan for answering them
  • Interview internal stakeholders as needed to obtain information, test hypotheses, and/or secure buy-in
  • Develop robust analytical models to answer questions using data; vet the quality of data, assumptions, and results of the model
  • Create data visualizations to communicate findings, offer new insights, and uncover opportunities
  • Write high-quality, management-facing communications recommending action
  • Develop realistic implementation plans to turn analysis into action
  • Partner with other teams to drive execution of plans

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years work experience in a highly strategic and analytical role, such as management consulting, corporate strategy, or similar
  • Proficiency with a variety of tools for extracting data, performing analysis, modeling scenarios, and visualizing results and the willingness to learn how to use new tools: Microsoft Excel (must be able to independently create and sanity-check complex models); GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS); BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker); CRM software (e.g., Salesforce); Database queries (e.g., SQL)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, coupled with experience effectively presenting data-driven insights to company leaders
  • Fluency in data visualization and presentation; strong intuition for finding the right visualization to convey the message
  • Bias for action and drive to get to the “so what?” of an analysis
  • Ability to work cross-functionally to drive implementation of projects
  • High emotional intelligence and humility; you are confident, yet humble and enjoy hearing diverse perspectives on a problem in order to reach the best solution
