Cruise is actively seeking a senior-level engineering technician lead for the San Francisco autonomous vehicle hardware team. We are a dynamic and rapidly expanding team that is supporting hardware development in the autonomous vehicle field.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Manage and track program resource allocation and team tasks. Proactively communicate project updates to stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement new manufacturing line processes. This includes: equipment definition, fixture design/validation, build instructions, inventory control, build travelers, and other record keeping platforms.
  • Continuously improve team processes and workflows, striving for better traceability, quality, and efficiency.
  • Drive root cause analysis (RCA) for line build quality or technical issues and define steps for resolution.
  • Mentor, train, and bring up new technicians; prioritize team and individual professional development.
  • Manage the manufacturing lab spaces and maintain an organized, safe, clean, and healthy work environment.
  • Observe and enforce all safety standards. Drive a culture of safety, risk management, and actively strive to prevent accidents and injuries.

What you must have:

  • 6+ years technical experience in manufacturing, hardware, robotics, or aerospace industries
  • 3+ years experience as a technical people manager or similar management position (AV/EV or R&D Mfg. preferred)
  • Formal education in Engineering Technology or trade school major. BS, AS, technology trade certificate, or work experience equivalent
  • Demonstrated ability to use general electrical, assembly, and lab diagnostic tools
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Windows, MacOS, and Linux operating systems
  • Ability to thrive in a cooperative, rapidly changing team setting with aggressive goals and challenging timelines.
  • Proven track record showing a strong background with emphasis on safety, quality of work, and technical aptitudeion listed for US immigration work visa eligibility assessment)

Bonus points!

  • Working knowledge of Git and terminal based computer commands
  • Knowledge of computer hardware components, AV systems, ADAS or other sensor suite components
  • Basic programming in Python or C++
