Job Description

About This Role 

Environmental, Health, and Safety at Apeel Sciences is focused on supporting our expanding global operations. We are looking for an Uruapan, MX-based EHS Manager with ideally 5-10 years of experience supporting organizations with driving safety performance and ensuring compliance with EHS regulations. This role is the main EHS contact for our LATAM operations and will own the full suite of EHS operations (regulatory/permitting and workforce health and safety) in the region from establishing ground-up compliance at new facilities to supporting and maturing EHS processes for existing operations. Apeel is looking for EHS Managers who are excited about enhancing EHS culture and driving targeted improvements in EHS performance. 
 
What You’ll Do
  • Act as the key EHS representative in the region supporting produce treatment operations
  • Drive EHS regulatory compliance and workforce safety assurance in Apeel’s operations by working with office and field level stakeholders. This requires effective in-person engagement and using digital tools to support a distributed workforce
  • Lead proactive hazard identification, analysis, and control efforts for your sites.
  • Own responsibility for a variety of safety processes and tools designed to limit and control risk in our operations. This will require understanding and deploying these tools to all employees and adapting and improving them to meet current and forecasted needs

    The processes will include:
  • Environmental and Facility Permitting
  • Incident Investigation
  • Equipment and Operational Risk Assessments
  • Auditing and Inspections
  • EHS Training
  • EHS Data Analysis and Reporting
  • Travel required up to 20% of the time and for durations of up to 2 weeks
What You Bring
  • B.S. Degree in Environmental, Safety or related technical field required; M.S. Degree in Environmental or Safety Engineering or Technology preferred
  • Previous job experience in supporting/leading EHS compliance at the site or corporate level
  • Experience performing hazard assessments and incident investigations strongly preferred
  • Possess or working towards a third-party or government-sponsored certification/accreditation in safety and health
  • Business level fluency in English and Spanish required
