Job Description

Location: Flexible - able to be in Bristol at least one day per week

The OVO Group’s purpose is to drive progress towards net zero carbon living. To reach Plan Zero, we need everyone to come together - not just as customers buying energy, but as members with a common goal. As part of this ambitious plan, our goal is to become the ‘Leading Employer in the UK’ by 2030. If you think you could be the talent we’re looking for, then come and join the adventure!

Where in the world of OVO will I be working?

The OVO Group's mission is to drive progress towards net zero carbon living. We're a collection of companies with a single vision: to power human progress with clean affordable energy for everyone.  Find out more here.

Kaluza is the centrepiece of OVO Group's ambition to become the world leader in distributed energy technology. Kaluza is shaping the future: a distributed, consumer-centric energy system that will be the nervous system connecting energy retailers, grid & network operators and consumers to provide clean, affordable energy for everyone.

Orion by Kaluza is our flexible software platform which enables energy suppliers to provide a simple, transparent, reliable & ultimately delightful experience to their customers. We build tools and processes which enable suppliers to solve customer problems and help end-users better manage their energy at home.

What will I be doing?

We’re looking for a product manager to lead a cross-functional team. This team is responsible for designing and building tools on the Orion Energy Platform which help energy retailers:

  • Obtain and bill to opening and closing meter reads
  • Raise a dispute for any out-of-line opening or closing meter read

Deciding to switch suppliers can be a big deal for customers.  Sometimes it’s the first time a customer has switched in years.  For others, switching is a regular part of managing their household finances - switching at the end of their contract to find the best deal.  Transferring between suppliers is a key customer journey with many touchpoints for the customer and with industry parties - there are many exceptions that can arise out of opening and closing meter reads and confusion and delays are common.  This is a critical area for Orion - creating the crucial first impressions for customers and ensuring that suppliers are able to bill accurately and promptly for new and leaving customers.

You’ll lead and motivate your team to design and build experiences which help customers through their journey of providing an opening meter read when joining a new energy provider. This team is also responsible for improving the platform tooling and ensuring low operational costs for when suppliers need to intervene with exceptions. You’ll help guide your team in setting their product vision & strategy.  The successful candidate will need to show a real passion for bringing together a wide range of complex needs and requirements from customers, energy retailers and regulatory bodies and working with their teams to deliver simple and innovative solutions.
