Nautilus is building artificial intelligence to advance the efficiency of ocean commerce. We deliver technology to help shipping companies minimize fuel consumption, maximize operational efficiency, and optimize fleet performance. By arming ship owners and operators with real-time predictive decision support, Nautilus is reducing greenhouse gas emissions and making global trade sustainable.

Ocean shipping consumes over $100 billion dollars of fuel every year, and up to 30% of it can be saved. For owner-operators, reliance on manually collected and analyzed data makes it difficult to optimize fleet performance in real-time. By providing a unified data platform that leverages machine learning, Nautilus helps its clients make better decisions to maximize the return on each ship and every voyage. For our clients, this means they drive closer collaboration, greater transparency, and stronger accountability across their global teams every day.

About you.

As our first Recruiter, you will redefine the way we attract, engage, and retain talented and diverse crew members.  In shaping the future of Nautilus Labs, you’ll work closely with the Director of People Operations on talent acquisition and employee relationship strategies while partnering with hiring managers across the business on a variety of high priority roles.

You’re the face of Nautilus Labs for every candidate you meet and an ambassador of our culture with internal stakeholders.  As such, you’ll need to be an excellent communicator and compassionate with a high EQ.  You recognize that, as a fast-growing early-stage startup, we need well-rounded team players who can easily navigate between the strategic and the tactical, the personal and the pragmatic, and that excites you! To be successful in this role, you’re also hyper-organized, naturally detail-oriented and incredibly resourceful.

Outcomes for the Role.

  • Diversity, Equity & Inclusion: Develop robust and diverse talent pipelines while providing an equitable and inclusive hiring experience for all candidates.
  • Recruitment: Manage a high-touch and empathetic recruitment cycle from sourcing through offer, with support and regular communication provided to both candidates and hiring teams.   
  • Operations: Maintain and improve our Greenhouse instance with the understanding that data drives thoughtful decision making.  
  • Strategy:  Identify and execute on opportunities to increase our employer brand awareness, diversifying recruitment channels, and improving our hiring KPIs.
  • Team Player: Step in to projects and processes where needed, taking ownership and leading by example across the business.

Proficiencies.

  • 3-5 years of experience full-cycle recruiting in tech and high-growth start-up experience is considered a plus.
  • Must have experience in recruiting technical roles (bonus points for experience hiring executives!).
  • Excellent organizational, planning & communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Track record of managing both active and passive candidate funnels and driving referrals.
  • Strong ability to handle competing deadlines with the flexibility to change course midstream. (You’re comfortable with ambiguity!)
  • You build relationships but let data drive the decisions. 
  • You can negotiate offer terms with a candidate and hiring needs internally - you’re a natural closer!  
  • A self-starter committed to continuous improvement and you’re intellectually curious!

Location: We are currently 100% remote and this role will be required to report to the New York office once it reopens.  No relocation assistance is available.
