General Purpose: 

We are currently seeking a Project Manager to join the Carbon Containment Lab team.

This is an opportunity to help create a lasting, positive impact in an applied research setting. The CC Lab develops, pilots and implements innovative carbon containment and nature-based climate solutions, and aims to contribute to the containment of one billion metric tons of CO2  by 2100.

The Project Manager will be responsible for designing and implementing a range of innovative carbon containment projects in collaboration with team members, partners, and advisors. The position is responsible for successful project delivery including planning, management of analyst and student research, collaborating with partners, managing risks and solving for practical logistical issues. In addition, the position manages the synthesis and flow of data required to screen, analyze and implement new techniques. We are especially interested in candidates who are passionate about solving climate change issues, who are adept at navigating multiple disciplines, and who love to make things happen.

 

Required Education and Experience: 

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and five years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated academic excellence and exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate scientific concepts to a non-scientific audience using visualizations of data.
  • Proactive, self-directed, and highly collaborative, with a proven ability to work both independently and in teams, using sound judgement in knowing when to seek guidance and advice as needed. Demonstrated experience functioning on a high-performing team with the ability to train, coach, and mentor members of the team.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment and comfortable working with new methodologies and creating clarity in ambiguous situations, with the proven ability to meet challenging deadlines. Demonstrated problem solving skills and ability to build on existing knowledge to develop new approaches.
  • Strong data analytic skills with a qualitative and quantitative approach to problem solving. Proficient experience in Microsoft Office Suite and highly-organized with a strong attention to detail and the ability to successfully prioritize competing tasks.
  • Ability and willingness to travel both domestically and internationally, including work in the field for varying lengths of time. Demonstrated interest in climate change, carbon removal, reduction, and mitigation.
  • Preferred Education and Experience: MA or Ph.D. in a relevant field. Expert understanding of climate change, environmental policy, sustainability challenges, carbon management, and technical knowledge of climate change and development issues. Experience building a startup company entrepreneurial non-profit, demonstrated ability to reach important milestones. Project management training.
