Job Description

Culdesac's mission is to build cities for people, not cars. We're the first post-car real estate developer, and our goal is to build the first car-free city in the US. We're starting with the first car-free neighborhood built from scratch - that's Culdesac Tempe, a 1000-person neighborhood.
All of this draws from a core insight: the way we move defines the way we live. And the way we move is changing fast, with countless ways to get around today beyond private cars. Here's more.
When we're successful, we will help to decarbonize transportation as private vehicle ownership is one of the largest sources of carbon emissions today. We will help our residents achieve a more fulfilling experience with life at their front door in a more walkable neighborhood.
You will be instrumental in helping us deliver on these goals by driving the experience of our residents from when they browse for their new home to when they move in.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end design for the web app through which residents will engage with Culdesac including prototypes, UI, and screen designs.
  • Provide brand direction for signage and collateral used inside the community and ensure consistency of emotion and feel with the digital product
  • Lead user research to identify underlying challenges residents face when transitioning to a car-free lifestyle and relevant products we should invest in to support them
  • Design end-to-end experiences that give our residents confidence they have the information they need, when they need it, in the medium, they need it in.

Requirements

  • We're open to great folks from all backgrounds. Nothing is ever a must-have for exceptional candidates but a few rules of the road for what we're looking for -

  • Experience: At least 3+ years of experience shipping delightful products. You should have a portfolio that showcases your ability to deliver high-quality UI and UX.
  • Obsession: The experience we deliver to our customers lives at the intersection of the online and offline world. You must obsess over creating a consistent feel, look, and emotion for our products whether they're a whiteboard or web app.
  • Communication: We're a small team that moves quickly. You must have exceptional storytelling skills through written, oral, and visual communication.

Skills

  • Prototyping: Proficiency using interactive tools like Framer, Origami, etc
  • Collaboration: You must be low ego, collaborative, and be able to work with folks from different disciplines, backgrounds, and viewpoints.
  • Programming: Bonus if you have experience implementing designs in CSS.
Culdesac is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. We prohibit discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.
