Job Description

Does working for a fast paced, growing company that is making a difference in our environment excite you? Do you have a passion for making our environment better for this generation and the ones that follow? Let’s make a difference together. Join our team!

SUMMARY

Nexamp is seeking an experienced data scientist to work with diverse data sets including weather, equipment performance, solar energy generation, ISO grid pricing, and utility costs.  You will develop and refine models in Python in conjunction with area subject matter experts from across the company (in some cases based on Excel prior art).  Candidates should be comfortable both conceptualizing and implementing solutions. It's expected that you are familiar and comfortable with associated standard software tasks including testing, repository use, deployment to users and compute resources.

A typical challenge would involve modeling the energy output of a solar field over 30 years, including factors like climate change, equipment degradation and market cost of energy in order to recommend “repowering” (equipment upgrade) event timing.

Position is located in our Boston, MA office which is temporarily remote. Requires annual overnight travel of less than 5%.

  • Collaborate with product management and software development on interfaces to core systems
  • Diagnose, debug and correct defects

  • Establish a data analysis group positioned for growth

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate must be enthusiastic, self-motivated, hands-on, results-oriented, and a team player.

  • Strong listening, interaction and collaboration capabilities
  • Excellent written and spoken English communications skills
  • Past experience in related technologies is appreciated
