What you'll be doing:

• Define and build out a highly optimized procedurally generated automation framework to populate our cities and environments with assets (buildings, vegetation, rocks, clutter, decals, props etc.) for our Unreal Engine based 3D simulator
• Create procedural tools for assembling dynamic assets, generating indoor/outdoor layouts, spreading road networks, rivers, streams etc.
• Optimize procedural generation for our engine, partnering with content and rendering teams to maximize Unreal Engine’s capabilities
• Research and prototype useful methods for automatization of content workflow with Houdini or related tools, following the industry for the newest technologies.
• Work closely with the content and rendering teams to deliver realism that mimics cities for our pipelines and proactively collaborate with other artists and engineers to maintain and expand workflow automation possibilities.

What you must have:

• 5+ years of procedural generation experience in a production environment and have shipped at least one AAA game or film.
• 3+ years experience building procedural or pipeline tools with Python, PyMEL, HScript, VEX or equivalent language.
• 2+ years experience working with Houdini or equivalent procedural generation tools.
• Knowledge of workflow automation fundamentals, including: workflow, tools, particle systems, animation, material setup, and engine parameters/optimizations
• Solid foundation of 3D mathematics and ability to apply optimized and creative solutions to procedural generation problems.
• In-depth knowledge of real time rendering, including: physically-based rendering (PBR) pipelines, shader authoring in HLSL (or similar shader language) or shader graphs as well as shader performance profiling and optimization.
• A deep understanding of texturing, materials, and VFX (preferably in a realtime engine).
• A portfolio or reel, including a detailed breakdown of your work in each section.

Bonus points!

• Unreal Engine 4 experience with blueprints and material editor is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with Houdini Engine and SpeedTree
• Familiarity with calibrated material libraries
• Understanding of camera, sensor, and lens technology
• Experience with photogrammetry
