Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

Our New Markets function works cross-functionally across the business to identify, research, and pursue strategic opportunities such as new services or geographic expansion forward.  In this role, you will use business analysis skills to develop models or market assessments, and project management to facilitate timely and high quality execution. You will be responsible for communicating requirements, milestones and decisions-made up, down, and across the organization and with various business partners.  You will have access to internal and external resources to develop a foundation to guide your project plans. THE MANAGER, NEW MARKETS HAS FOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Strategic Business Development
    • Identify, research and pursue key business opportunities that align with Inspire’s strategic roadmap, including new clean energy services, related offerings and geographic market expansion
    • Evaluate key factors for new markets including regulatory environment, legal and compliance requirements, financial opportunity, competitive landscape, consumer insights, etc. 
    • Develop deep knowledge of the business to understand interdependencies, trade offs, and business objectives of different functions
  2. Data-Driven Decisions
    • Build models, forecasts and budgets in partnerships with other stakeholders such as Finance, Analytics and Product
    • Seek to learn about the key levers that drive results for the company and each new business opportunity
    • Reinforce value and “why” consistently in each business case and presentation
  3. Project Management
    • Create and communicate cross-functional project plans with internal and external stakeholders
    • Drive results against deadlines with complex variables
    • As required, groom requirements, prioritize and provide feedback to technical work streams (product, engineering, etc.) 
    • Set up post launch milestones to ensure that new markets are progressing according to plan
  4. Communications Lead
    • Provide succinct daily, weekly and monthly updates on progress against New Market’s objectives
    • Develop and socialize New Markets roadmap with high level milestones; consistently update as variables change
    • Ensure clear roles and responsibilities are set and reinforced throughout each project
    • Support key external partnerships with partners/vendors supporting Financing, Commodities, Billing Operations, Legal, etc.

SOME YEAR 1 DELIVERABLES

  • Build and manage a complex launch plan for new clean energy services and markets across internal and external resources
  • Build and implement predictable cadence of communications with key stakeholders
  • Implement best practices, systems and tools for project planning, launch management, feedback, etc. 
  • Manage regular project meeting agendas, key strategic decisions and action items
  • Support long-term strategic roadmap assessments in partnership with New Markets leadership, Finance, President and CEO and other key stakeholders

SUCCESS METRICS

  • Launch timelines and budgets achieved
  • Deliver new business P&L (supporting role)

EXPERIENCE

  • Must Have
    • At least 5 years in a dynamic, high growth environment
    • 3+ years project, program, or product management involving different levels of an organization, preferably within a consumer services, utility or energy business
    • Strong analytics and planning skills, including advanced modeling, research, and project management
  • Nice to Have
    • Experience managing go-to-market implementation in retail/competitive energy markets, clean energy services, or related category
    • Management consulting experience
    • Business development and/or regulatory strategy experience
