Job Description

Tradewater is a mission-based company headquartered in Chicago and operating around the world. We collect, manage, and destroy greenhouse gases. Our projects are designed to fight the climate crisis and create economic development opportunities. The gases that we work to destroy primarily come from old refrigerants, which are some of the worst greenhouse gases ever made. The destruction of these refrigerants result in carbon offset credits that individuals or organizations purchase to offset their carbon footprint.

We are looking for a Human Resources leader who is passionate about growing, developing, and taking great care of our team as they take on one of the biggest challenges the world faces todayTradewater is a dynamic and growing company, and we are looking for a leader who is excited to build our capacities and wrestle with questions like the following: As we emerge from this pandemic, what does the future of work and the workplace look like? How do we use information technology and other practices to collaborate with our team members when they are across the globe and also across the conference room table? How do we optimize the use of our physical spaces to help us achieve our goals? What does it really look like to live our values and our commitment to being an anti-racist company? How do we support our team with pursuing big audacious goals without burning out?

 Tradewater currently has thirty-six employees across the United States and an international team of seven headquartered out of Costa Rica with team members around the world. This role is full-time and based out of our Chicago office, located at 1411 W. Carroll Ave.

 Responsibilities:

  • Management of the recruiting process—with an emphasis on finding skilled and diverse talent, efficiently.
  • Development and maintenance of our onboarding and training program.
  • Partnership with managers in the organization to support employee relations and performance management.
  • Leadership of our efforts around diversity, equity, and inclusion, and our commitment to living our values around being an anti-racist company.
  • Presence as a senior leader in the company, role modeling strong communication and relational skills.
  • Coach to the organization during change management scenarios.
  • Ownership of human resources policiescompliance, and administrative processes.
  • Directorship of our programming to support staff and culture in having a dynamic, fun, and productive workplace.

 Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; graduate degree preferred in a relevant discipline
  • 8+ years of professional experience with 5+ years in management and/or human resources
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Experience leading diversity, equity, and inclusion work
  • Ability to embrace ambiguity and create clarity for decision-making when a diverse range of options are available
  • Enthusiasm for our mission to collect, manage, and destroy greenhouse gases
  • Comfort working in fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Experience with global human resources, particularly global recruiting, is a plus
  • Experience leading learning and development programming and conducting trainings is a plus
  • Experience managing information technology support is a plus
  • Experience overseeing facilities is a plus
  • Spanish fluency is a plus
