The Opportunity:

The Senior Linux and Cloud Operations Engineer reports to the Head of Service Management & Monitoring, and is directly responsible for designing and supporting the Amazon Web Services cloud and on premise Linux infrastructure. The Linux and Cloud Operations Engineer will work closely with software engineering and DevOps teams to provide cloud and Linux architecture, design, and leadership as well as work alongside IT infrastructure staff, DBA’s, and network engineers in support of Enel X’s advancement from traditional infrastructures to agile and dynamically scalable on premise and cloud architectures.  This role must also ensure that services are highly available, have sufficient infrastructure capacity in place and are fully resilient across multiple data centers and Cloud services.

What You'll Do at Enel:

• Design, implement, secure and optimize scalable, highly available architectures both in AWS and physical infrastructure throughout the software development lifecycle (development, testing, staging, and production)
• End-to-end life cycle management from on-boarding to off-boarding and service decommissioning, including incident resolution and root cause analysis of critical outages
• Lead significant implementation projects
• Create a framework of policies and processes that adhere to best practices
• Build practical tools that automate tasks, monitors infrastructure and provides reporting about the Enel X on premise and cloud assets and resources
• Champions security and operational best practices throughout the development and infrastructure lifecycle
• Work closely with developers and other staff to root cause issues and provide solutions
• Change management standardized across infrastructure, system, and application environments
• Proactively monitor the on premise and AWS environments utilizing best practices improving processes as needed
• Research, assess and integrate new technologies
• Participate in the design and development efforts for Linux server and application instance management and bootstrap automation
• Perform capacity planning and performance monitoring infrastructure or application changes to improve performance
• Developing automated build, configuration, and deployment scripts
• Work closely with other teams including development, QA and other business units.
• Support compliance for Enel X’s SOC2 certifications
• Provide mentorship to other team members
• Manage a 24/7 always on multi-tier Linux application delivery environment and participate in an on-call rotation
• Linux administration, performance tuning, monitoring, maintaining fault tolerance, and account management

Who You Are:

• Bachelor's degree in related field of study, OR Certification from an approved technical field of study, OR 7 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required

What You've Accomplished:

• Minimum 5-7 years Linux Systems Engineering experience
• Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) required
• Expert understanding of AWS networking architectures such as transit VPC and transit gateway
• Strong Experience with Red Hat Linux
• Experience with AWS Security and Operational best practices
• Experience in system administration experience, this includes: security management, OS installation and patching, user management and system monitoring
• Coding / scripting experience in Bash and at least one other language - Ruby, Java, Python, etc.
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP protocol, DHCP, DNS, SMTP, LDAP
• Experience with both RDBMS (PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.) and NoSQL (Mongo, Cassandra, etc.) 
• Strong experience with doing deployment automation with Puppet, Chef, Vagrant, Docker or similar technology
• Experience with continuous integration - Jenkins preferred
• Experience with Jira and Confluence
• Strong background with source code repositories - GIT, SVN, etc.
