The Opportunity:

Enel X, a global leader in renewable energy strategy and procurement, has streamlined the renewable procurement process by providing data-driven guidance through all phases of the development and implementation of our client’s renewable energy strategy.   Specific tasks may include conducting renewable energy workshops, development of customized renewable energy strategies and roadmaps, identification of and quantifying risks and risk mitigation solutions, RFP design and development, conducting competitive auction events, and post-transaction support. Enel X helps renewable energy purchasers save time, lower costs, and mitigate risks in today’s renewable energy market.

The Renewable Energy Advisor will support Enel X’s growing Renewable Energy Services division and manage all aspects of the development, implementation, and execution of renewable energy strategies and services for assigned customer accounts. The cornerstone of this service is achieved by standardizing renewable products and terms and driving competition among suppliers in live auction events hosted by our award-winning reverse-auction technology  Procurement events will involve a host of renewable energy Requests for Proposals (RFPs) in support of a number of renewable energy contract types, from traditional Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) to physical asset acquisitions (from post- Notice to Proceed (NTP) to pre- Commercial Operations Date (COD)) to purchases of Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) and carbon offsets.

The Renewable Energy Advisor will be assigned customer accounts that cover multiple renewable energy transaction types, geographic locations, and customer verticals. For select customers, the Renewable Energy Advisor will also assist with various tasks associated with the management and optimization of a customer’s procured renewable energy resources.

What You'll Do at Enel:

Renewable Energy Advisory Support

  • Developing comprehensive regional energy market assessments and reports for assigned customers, with a focus on the renewable energy landscape, to identify of-note local market considerations (regulatory requirements, critical environmental risks, interconnection ques, unique opportunities, etc.), market trends, market price forecasts (for energy, capacity, and RECs), all supply-side counterparties and primary contacts, project pipelines and statuses, and recently conducted RFPs
  • Supporting the delivery of client centered workshops that provide education and assistance with the identification of client constraints and priorities as they pertain to the development and implementation of renewable energy strategies, discuss and address internal and external stakeholder feedback, and address any raised questions. Providing assistance with the planning and development of strategies that will achieve client’s sustainability objectives specific to achieving carbon offset or carbon neutrality goals consistent with other client stated priorities. 
  • Interpreting client’s unique sustainability goals and assisting with the development and implementation of renewable energy strategies specific to achieving the goals as communicated by client and consistent with other client priorities.
  • Support the collection and formatting of the necessary data to be use in the application of proprietary models that forecast long range financial performance, and help determine the most beneficial and cost effective renewable energy solution(s) that are consistent with its stated organizational objectives.

Renewable Energy Transaction Support

  • Consulting with customers and their internal and external stakeholders on the development of renewable energy RFP strategies and supporting materials
  • Supporting the development of a robust renewable energy procurement strategies and project timelines focused on driving competitiveness and process transparency that leverage universally identified best-practices and technology, including reverse auction capabilities (if-able)
  • Developing robust renewable energy RFP documents and supporting appendices, including pre-bid forms and materials, contract templates, quantitative and qualitative offer evaluation criteria, technical bid requirements, bid forms, bidder affidavits and attestation forms, and email notification templates
  • Conducting large-scale, high value, renewable energy RFPs (releasing RFP notices to pre-determined counterparties, engaging with invited counterparties 1-on-1, fielding and addressing all raised questions, collecting and recording pre-bid documentation from counterparties, conducting due-diligence review of responding counterparties and to-be-proposed projects, managing pre-bid credit and collateral process, driving uniformity amongst counterparties on contract templates, qualifying counterparties to submit bids, collecting and evaluating bids, managing remediation processes, and producing scored shortlists and award recommendations, among other primary tasks)
  • Supporting deep-dive assessments of both responding RFP counterparties and their submitted projects/proposals to determine potential financial risks, fatal flaws, and material defects
  • Assisting with the development/interpretation of long term forward pricing curves for the purposes of evaluating and comparing pricing offers at various locations
  • Supporting the contracting process for counterparties selected for award as a result of a managed RFP, managing the collection of contracts and enforcement of a customer’s contractual requirements
  • Interfacing with internal and external stakeholders involved in managed renewable energy RFPs and providing individualistic support to all before, during, and after supported RFPs
  • Developing comprehensive RFP reports that detail each RFP process in its entirety and provide a fully auditable record covering all phases of the RFP process

 

Renewable Energy Post Transaction Support

  • Organizing and conducting post-RFP stakeholder workshop sessions to identify lessons-learned, process improvements, and future best-practices
  • Managing the implementation and optimization of acquired renewable energy contracts on behalf of supported customers
  • Validation of PPA and VPPA settlement statements on a monthly basis
  • Managing, recommending or assisting with strategies to monetize or retire RECs on behalf of client
  • Interpreting client reporting on carbon reduction results and performance related to client sustainability goals.

 

Internal Business Support

  • Providing technical sales support, including but not limited to, fee support, developing market assessments, conducting prospect opportunity assessments, and attending select prospect meetings in-field
  • Coordinate with Business Development Managers (BDM) and Global Services personnel to effectively onboard new customers, including request analyst, and determine initial customer transaction strategy
    • Establishing, maintaining and enhancing relationships with renewable energy market counterparties/developers/suppliers.

Who You Are:

 

  • Excellent computer skills and a strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Background in Economics, Finance, Mathematics or Energy and derivatives markets
  • Budgeting, forecasting and price structuring
  • Able to clearly explain technical information to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Comfortable as a team player or working independently. Takes initiative. Self-directed. Attention to detail.

What You've Accomplished:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in the renewable energy industry, ideally focused on functions related to procurement or project development
  • 3+ years of power price structuring, risk management or forecasting experience
  • General knowledge of renewable energy marketplace and mechanics of renewable energy development and contracting process
  • General knowledge of electric cost components and market dynamics in 2 or more ISOs such as PJM, ERCOT, ISONE, NYISO, CAISO.
  • Ability to read tariffs and recreate electric and natural gas utility costs
  • BA/BS degree. Master’s degree in Business or Finance a plus.
