We are looking for a Senior Bringup Engineer with experience in hardware/system/network architecture, hardware design and validation. In this position, you will be part of the Hardware team, which is responsible for developing the hardware platform for our autonomous vehicles. We partner with electrical engineers, bring up engineers, mechanical engineers, SI engineers, embedded system engineers, technical program managers internally and different vendors externally to ensure high quality components are developed for Cruise.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Work with multi-functional teams to come up with the detailed bring up and validation requirements for compute and network components and drive the HW through detailed development and validation cycles.
  • Gather requirements, studying high level designs and turning them into smaller building blocks to bring the hardware up and integrate the blocks into a bigger system.
  • Communicate requirements and coordinate execution with multiple teams
  • Troubleshoot and root cause, document and drive issues to closure
  • Work closely with manufacturing/Tier1/Tier2/CM teams to ensure bring up and diagnostics tools are developed accurately for the NPI and Manufacturing.
  • Drive multi-functional teams and partners to address challenges seen during integration and bring-up, ensure AV content is seamlessly brought up, validated and tested at the end of line that meets product and business requirements.
  • Demonstrate full ownership of assigned systems/components. Lead timelines and resolve project dead lines in order to meet program timing

What you must have:

  • BS or MS in Computer Science/Electrical or Electronics engineering or a related subject area
  • 5+ years of experience with X86, GPU, Network components diagnostics development and validation
  • Driven HW bring up and validation aspects of a complex compute and/or network system.
  • Previous bring up and diagnostics experience with x86 CPU’s, GPU’s, SoC’s, interfaces like 25G/10G-KR, 10GBase-T, 1G-T1, PCIe, DDR4, etc.
  • Proficient with a variety of hardware bring up tools (like JTAG controller, I2C/SPI tools, etc)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to learn and confront technical challenges
  • Proficiency in C/C++/Python/JSON/Tcl-Tk and/or other scripting languages

Bonus Points!

  • Experience in ASIL B/D design implementations
  • Leadership experience in hardware bring up and software integration
  • Experience in EMI/EMC testing methods, root causing issues
  • Experience with firmware development for compute/sensing hardware and testing
