The Program Management Office at Cruise delivers the largest programs for the success of the company. Our scope spans all divisions in the organization, requiring us to work directly with executive leaders and investing partners to build Autonomous Vehicles and commercial services - at scale. As a Program Manager, you will tackle the most sophisticated, multi-disciplinary engineering and commercialization challenges with leaders throughout Cruise.

What you’ll be doing:

Planning

  • Define the vision, strategy and roadmap for your product areas. Lead our executives and key partners elegantly through decisions to drive toward our strategic goals.
  • Use a variety of planning tools to synthesize timelines between organizations that use both Agile and waterfall-type methodologies.
  • Balance technical and analytical insights with intuition to formulate compelling resource strategies while adjust quickly to new information.

Execution

  • Be responsible for program timelines, helping our teams determine and achieve their goals
  • Manage and external partners and executives across the organization, including Hardware, Software, Operations, and Finance
  • Identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and facilitate conflict resolution.
  • Develop and institute the appropriate level of process to balance structure and flexibility.
  • Technical
  • Use technical judgment in working with large, cross engineering teams
  • Decompose multi-faceted engineering challenges into clear and measurable risks and achieve consensus for team recommendations
  • Drive a culture of thorough and clear metrics development to measure, achieve, and exceed program results.

What you must have

  • Bachelors In Computer Science, Engineering, or similar technical field
  • 7+ years in industry, proven experience in program management (technical preferred)
  • Experience leading sophisticated fast-paced initiatives spanning multiple teams and organizations, often with conflicting priorities and schedules
  • Effective at building consensus across different functions
  • Self motivation and passion to develop your teams, encourage standard methodologies, and constantly improve processes
  • Thrive in ambiguity, crafting simplicity and order
  • Passion for self-driving car technology and its impact on the world

Bonus Points!

  • MBA or similar experience with finance and commercialization strategy
  • Technical experience with autonomous vehicles or other sophisticated, high quality products from design through launch and scale
  • Operations or commercial launch experience with familiarity balancing customer, technical, and business tradeoff
