Job Description

Job Overview: 

Reporting to the Director of Field Operations, the Project Manager (PM) is responsible for managing all aspects of the on-boarding process for Hatch Data’s customers.  Hatch Data is focused exclusively on delivering optimization tools to building operators in a Software as a Service (“SaaS”) model. The software routinely acquires real-time data feeds from field devices (utility meters, sub-meters, building automation systems, IoT platforms, etc.) The PM will manage the on-boarding project planning and scheduling, customer and partner communication, resource allocation, project accounting, and control, while providing technical direction to trades in the field deliver projects on time, within budget while meeting safety and quality standards. The PM is the “face" of Hatch Data to the customer following contracting and plays a key role in ensuring they have a good experience, come back for more, and tell their friends to do the same. 

 

Responsibilities and Duties: 

Customer on-boarding and enablement:  Own success of customer enablement process.  Key duties include: 

Plan:

  • Develop pre-sale and post-sale technical integration plans and estimates, including assessing applicable building utilities (e.g. electrical, water, gas, etc.), facilities (existing building automation), and metering prospects in an accurate and cost-effective manner to inform enablement plan and estimate.
  • Define scope for customers, provide estimates, and create enablement plans by collaboratively working with customers and contractors.

Execute:

  • Manage all aspects of customer on-boarding projects through to successful completion and professional standards.
  • Manage hardware logistics including, selection, ordering, installation, configuration, shipping, tracking, and documentation.
  • Communicate effectively and proactively with on-site electricians, plumbers, and other technical and non-technical individuals; convene and run meetings, as appropriate.

Validate:

  • Commission data acquisition systems and gateway connectivity for proper functionality and troubleshoot problems to ensure proper operation.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure timely provisioning of customer access to platform as well as appropriate configuration.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction.

Learn & Improve:

  • Continuously identify friction in the process, document your findings, and pursue opportunities to improve the enablement process in support of company objectives.

 

Contractor Management: Set expectations and hold contractors accountable.  Key duties include:

  • Coordinate site assessments/surveys, installation, and scheduling with trades.
  • Define scope of work and issue orders.
  • Manage documentation, communication, and invoice approval.
  • Onboard and train, as necessary.

 

Document processes and projects while building knowledge base:  Create documents that memorialize standards and expectations (for surveys, installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and documentation) while becoming fluent in field technology.  Key duties include:

  • Document enablement process and create records for equipment at customer facilities and the installed hardware.
  • Understand hardware technologies and solutions, including protocols.
  • Provide project progress reports. 

 

Customer Service:  Provide excellent customer service.  Key duties include:

  • Cultivate relationships within Hatch Data; coach, support and train other team members.
  • Use good listening, questioning, and discovery skills when working with customers.
  • Be timely and conscientious.
  • Build trust with all customers.

 

Ideal Candidate:

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field
  • Minimum three years of direct experience managing projects.
  • Prior experience in customer-facing roles within energy, utilities, or commercial real estate, a plus. 

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Project management skills including ability to multitask, prioritize, set and meet deadlines, work independently, and perform tasks with emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail; capacity to skillfully manage several projects concurrently.
  • Understands commodity metering systems and installation considerations in a variety of built environments.  
  • Experience and relationships with field hardware providers and installation contractors.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Adept at G Suite, Salesforce, and MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail.
