What You Will Be Doing

As a member of an international team of experts, you will work with EU, US, and UK based hardware and software design teams to guide the regulatory aspects of the design, test, and certification of ChargePoint’s next generation AC and DC electric vehicle charging equipment with an emphasis on ChargePoint’s integrated revenue metering solutions. Integrated metering enables ChargePoint achieve a high level of hardware and software integration in a custom designed platform, resulting in best in class EVSE products suitable for a worldwide market.

Inform the product design, test, and certification with respect to AC and DC revenue metering requirements.

Participate in, and review the Products Requirements Document ensuring that relevant metering feature compliance requirements are included and documented.

Contribute technical guidance and support to set up internal meter testing laboratory capabilities, including equipment selection, lab environment, design of test fixtures, testing method documentation, etc.

Create and execute validation and regulatory test plans to demonstrate that the metering designs meet performance requirements with a goal of a single iteration certification test program.

Manage and directly carry out 3rd party certification activities with respect to metering, safety, and EMC.

Support international manufacturing and factory operations in meeting their obligations for production line testing, quality, labeling, and record keeping as it pertains to safety and Module D meter certification across MID, MIR, and Eichrecht requirements.

Provide technical support to Solutions Engineering to answer customer’s RFP’s (Request for Proposal) from a regulatory perspective including understanding the applicability of mandated standards.

Provide technical support to ChargePoint’s EU standards development team and committee members with an emphasis on metering standards and requirements. 

Provide technical support to design and set up internal laboratory capabilities, including space layout, equipment, power requirements, etc.

Provide technical assistance to support ChargePoint field engineers from in resolving matters related to metering and infrastructure regulations in the installed base.

Create specifications and guidelines for required measurement accuracy to be included in PRD’s (Product Requirements Document).

Track and support compliance with non-uniform regulatory metering requirements (country specific) as applied to electric vehicle charging that are imposed by utilities, customers, or other non EU community entities. 

On occasion, provide direct technical support for commissioning or inspecting large installations (such as a bus or fleet depot).   

What You Will Bring to ChargePoint

Deep understanding of AC and DC Metering standards in EU and UK, including IEC 62052-11, IEC 50470-1, IEC 50470-3, AR-2418, and associated 61000 series standards. Knowledge of HB44 in the US is a bonus

Successful 3rd party certification of metering products to the standards referenced above through VDE, CSA, SGS, etc. 

You will have successfully executed and implemented Module D for both testing process and quality documentation systems in the manufacturing and final test for meters shipped under MID and/or Eichrecht.

Minimum 5 years of experience in the development, design, and deployment of electric vehicle charging equipment including a regulatory perspective of meeting metering requirements and obtaining 3rd party metrology certifications.

Knowledge of wiring rules and conventions, mains power distribution systems (IT, TT, TN, etc.), practical considerations, as well as national and local regulations resulting in products that are easily installed a wide range of EU geographic locations and sites
