We upcycle 2nd life electric vehicle (EV) batteries to accelerate the transition to renewables and are well positioned to deliver scalable CO2 savings and protect scarce resources. Our business model embraces circular economy principles by ensuring recycling at the end of 2nd life and significantly lowers cost for customers through our battery-as-a-service offering.

To strengthen our technical team, we are looking for a Validation Engineer – Battery System Development (m/f/d) to start as soon as possible.

With your exhaustive experience in battery testing, you will play an integral role in the validation and qualification of our modular, mobile and multi-purpose 2nd-life battery system. This includes taking the responsibility for project deliveries and report to both internal and external stakeholders. You will also work with a broad perspective from high-level prerequisites and concept development in the early phases to the later project phases managing planning, development and delivery.

Your tasks:

  • Plan, organize, direct, document and follow-up on project-related validation and testing activities.
  • Ensure delivery of all project activities.
  • Perform and develop tests together with the team.
  • Design of new test methods.
  • Analyze and present test results.
  • Support set up of test facilities.
  • Help the team to perform and innovate.
  • Facilitate communication and clarification of technical requirements between customers and betteries internal stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • MSc or above degree within Electrochemical, Material, Electrical or Mechanical field or comparable work experience.
  • More than 3 years of experience from the development and testing of second-life batteries, lithium-ion based technologies will be a plus.
  • Experience with Li-ion Cell lifetime and performance testing and/or safety and environmental testing.
  • Knowledge in test design and setup.
  • Confident in data analysis and presentation.
  • Strong organization skills and used to manage a range of activities simultaneously.
  • Self-directed and capable of working effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to work well with people in an international team.
  • Solid understanding of Li-ion battery materials, sub- & control systems, production and electrochemical evaluation desirable.
  • Proficient oral and written communications skills in German desirable.
