We are currently seeking an Avionics Engineer with civil aerospace experience to join us in developing exciting and revolutionary systems for a new class of all-electric aircraft. You will draw on your background of Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and/or other experience to participate in a technical team specifying, architecting, designing, and implementing the avionics suite for a certified commercial aircraft.
Essential Responsibilities
The Avionics Engineer role is responsible for multiple aspects of the avionics suite, including requirements authoring, architecture, implementation, and integration. This senior role is responsible for contributing to a unified technical vision of the architectural approach, for interacting with and contributing to the selection of vendors where appropriate, and for building and executing to a schedule for the avionics project. The successful candidate will be comfortable with technical discussions with engineers from a range of disciplines. They will have technical leadership experience, and will have demonstrated experience successfully executing to a schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate authoring of avionics requirements consistent with aircraft requirements
  • Design an avionics architecture capable of meeting those requirements
  • Work with external vendors, as necessary, to supply portions of the architecture
  • Work with internal engineers to build other portions of the architecture
  • Interact with other project teams at Wisk to keep the overall vehicle vision aligned
  • Author and maintain a realizable schedule through Avionics certification

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant engineering discipline
  • 6+ years of experiencing in a relevant engineering discipline (Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or other)
  • Previous experience in the civil avionics industry
  • Proven software development experience governed by processes for certified safety-critical systems (DO-178, DO-254, ISO 26262, etc)
  • Experience with safety-critical systems developed to detailed requirements
  • Great interpersonal skills, empathetic, compassionate, excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage tasks and projects involving peers across several disciplines

Desired

  • Proven success working in a geographically dispersed or remote work environment
  • Experience collaborating with vendors and integrating supplier provided avionics products. 
  • Experience integrating supplier provided radios for civil aviation. 
  • Experience with from-scratch architecture development of avionics systems or other large multi-component safety-critical embedded systems
