Job Description

BeZero is looking for an Earth and / or Environmental scientist to join our carbon offsetting ratings team. We are looking for a candidate to bring further knowledge and rigour to building out this highly innovative and impactful product. The ideal candidate would have experience of the Voluntary Carbon Offset Market. We are looking for a driven, creative and intellectually curious individual excited by the prospect of working at an innovative start-up aiming to rethink and rebuild a decarbonised economy. 

Overview 

BeZero Carbon offers an end-to-end decarbonisation service for its clients including carbon offsets. The BeZero Rating is a top-down analysis of the voluntary carbon market that assesses the quality of offset projects. We are embarking on a stage of rapid development and roll-out of this product to market, having received significant market interest. 

The role will be focused on researching the science and evidence behind different types of carbon offset and continuing to build our database of evidence, scores and ratings. It will also require interacting with clients and external stakeholders through calls, presentations, reports, blogs etc. 

Strong written, presentational, and oral communication skills are essential. The ideal candidate will bring a depth of knowledge in their area of expertise and the ability to create effective messaging for a diverse audience.

Required Skills

Minimum masters, preferably PhD in an Earth and/ or Environmental sciences or similar. 

Some work experience outside of academia, preferably related to carbon markets or climate-related policy.

Salary

£30k-£40k GBP depending on experience, with the potential for equity-based performance-related pay for more experienced candidates.
