Software Product Designer (UI/UX)

NextEra Energy is seeking a well-qualified candidate who is passionate about driving the clean energy revolution by providing solar companies with innovative software.  As a product designer, you will be asked to:

• Work closely with customers and other NextEra Energy teams to develop smart and creative software solutions to the problems our customers face and ensure NextEra s delivering modern, easy to use and intuitive software
• Produce designs for all new software products and enhancements, including lo-fi mocks, hi-fi mocks, and prototypes for A/B testing
• Develop polished and professional designs for the NextEra website, marketing collateral, and all external training materials

Job Overview

This position will be responsible for all frontend design aspects of software development for solar companies using NextEra software to design, sell, finance, and install projects.  This role will require a keen eye for creating simple, easy to use, eye-catching UI / UX designs for B2B customers as well as consumers.

Job Duties

• Work closely with customers to understand their use of the software, gathering user requirements in collaboration with product managers
• Work cross-functionally with product, engineer, sales, and operations to successfully deliver new platform designs that emphasize ease of use and aesthetic quality
• Participate in collaborative design sessions with product managers and software engineers
• Illustrate design ideas using storyboards, process flows, and sitemaps
• Develop UI mockups and prototypes that clearly illustrate how sites function and what they will look like
• Design graphic user interface elements, like menus, tabs, and widgets
• Build page navigation buttons and search fields
• Create original graphic designs (e.g. images, sketches, and tables) for us in a variety of contexts
• Identify and troubleshoot UX problems (e.g. responsiveness) using tools like Fullstory and Sentry and present proposed solutions
• Conduct A/B testing and adjust designs appropriately based on user feedback
• Create and maintain style guides, leading  the standardization of fonts, colors and images across the platform and in all NextEra materials
  
  

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• 3+ years of UI / UX design experience at a software company

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with B2B software; experience in the solar or renewable energy field a plus
• Unmatched eye for quality, beauty, and detail; a commitment to developing software that pushes the envelope in terms of function, ease-of-use, and aesthetic quality
• Strong time and process management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines and successfully deliver on complex projects
• Strong understanding of software development practices, coding, and software architecture; past coding or product management experience a plus
• The skills to develop, implement, and manage scalable processes
• A positive attitude and a strong desire to always get the job done in spite of obstacles
• The ability to work independently as well as collaborate in a team-oriented and fast-paced environment
