About This Role

We're seeking a highly motivated and creative scientist to execute research projects towards extending the shelf life of fresh produce and to help facilitate the continued growth of Apeel’s produce supply base at various packing houses around the world. Our Field Scientists regularly interface with Engineering, Formulations, and Operations teams to conduct research, execute product trials, calibrate product performance for new installations, and familiarize customers to Apeel’s technologies.

What You’ll Do

• Collect and analyze data from tests on fresh produce; prepare reports for presentation to internal and external parties
• Assist with equipment integrations and start-up at customer facilities around the globe
• Author and adhere to standard operating procedures, train incoming technicians, and ensure compliance with these standardized processes by colleagues
• Develop and author product application and quality assurance protocols related to Apeel treated fruits and vegetables
• Collect and analyze product performance data from customer sites
• Support sites by safely and effectively operating, cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining the mixing, application, and drying equipment to apply the Apeel product onto produce

What You Bring

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science (or equivalent) in Materials Science, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related STEM field
• 1+ year formal research experience in a STEM field (undergraduate research, internships, etc.)
• 1 + years of experience in a full time, corporate environment
• Proficiency in English (spoken and written)
• Valid driver's license and vehicle 
• Ability to perform indoor and outdoor work in cold or hot environments
• Ability to lift and move boxes of fruit (up to 40 lbs)
• Willingness to travel; A minimum of 50% travel (domestic and international) may be required, with assignments lasting up to 3 months at a time.

Preferred Qualifications

• Exceptional analytical and qualitative problem-solving skills, with a knack for solving ambiguous and unstructured problems
• Ability to speak both visually and numerically to communicate the results of your analyses to key stakeholders
