Where in the world of OVO will I be working? 

The Product Design discipline lives in the Platform Design department. It sits alongside Content Design, Design Operations, Design System, Research and Service Design.

You’ll also be joining our OVO-wide community of 60+ researchers and designers. We help teams see through the eyes of real people – understanding their context, motivations, and needs.

We use a variety of tools and methods to make the greatest impact. These include design workshops, getting people excited about service design, UX critiques, improving our accessibility, and putting participants first in our research.

What will I be doing?

We're looking for a Lead Product Designer (previously Lead UX Designer) to join our Platform Design team. The Product Design Lead reports to the Head of Design. 

You’ll lead product design for multiple teams, working on the billing and payments experiences on our retail platform. This involves making strategic decisions on key initiatives alongside other Leads. .  

You’ll also collaborate with Practice Leads from Content Design, Design Operations, Design System, Research and Service Design. 

  1. Collaborating with Product and Engineering leaders on our growth strategies.
  2. Working closely with our Practice Leads to set the direction for our teams
  3. Ensure Product Designers create effective user journeys, service maps, layouts and other reference material
  4. Identify research opportunities and communicate research findings effectively
  5. Promote and add to our design system, accessibility standards and patterns.
  6. Develop detailed technical knowledge of our software, tools and systems, and help increase the technical know-how of our designers
  7. Helping grow the Platform Design team and increase its influence across the business
  8. Defining and measuring performance metrics
  9. Manage and mentor other Product Designers
  10. Extend our toolbox of methods to enable our teams to meet business objectives and solve customer needs
  11. Helping to create a happy, safe working culture which nurtures and retains our talent
  12. Manage relationships with our B2B retail clients and move designers to where they’re most needed

Is this the job for me?

  1. Proven experience managing designers across multiple teams
  2. Skilled in building strong relationships with leaders across an  organisation
  3. Communicating strategies in ways that resonate and influence senior stakeholders 
  4. Experience working in agile, lean and human-centred design methods
  5. Able to simplify complex ideas and communicate them effectively to internal and external audiences
  6. Be highly organised, analytical and make decisions based on evidence
  7. Thrive in a fast-paced environment
