Job Description

We believe in a world where less time getting there means more time being there, and that starts with Cora. With over a decade of piloted and autonomous flight experience, we’ve created Cora—our all-electric, self-flying air taxi that will change the future of daily commutes and urban travel. From day one, Cora by Wisk was designed with safety as our first priority using emissions free systems.
We’re working toward a future where you’ll be able to safely soar over traffic and get to where you’re going, faster. Because everyone has somewhere to be, someone to see, and now—a better way to get there.
We are seeking a UI/UX/HMI engineer to join the team that builds the ground control and support systems for Wisk’s 6th generation unmanned aircraft system.  A typical day will include close collaboration with engineering teams, aircraft operators, maintainers, etc. You need a rigorous design mindset, with an eye towards Human Machine Interface (HMI).  Successful team members have demonstrated experience delivering projects from conception through deployment.

Responsibilities:

  • Embed Human Factors Engineering in Fleet Operations Center Design and support aircraft ground operating systems/software ideation
  • Research current paradigms and off-the-shelf solutions with engineers
  • Identify content inventory and API lists of screen and hardware-based user interfaces
  • Gather input from stakeholders, including Flight Test Pilots, Software Engineers, Systems Engineering, Regulatory Authorities, Third Party vendors, and Program Managers
  • Iterate on UI/UX design with stakeholders
  • Lead weekly design and requirement reviews with stakeholders
  • Generate requirements and translate them into user stories and UI mock-ups/wireframes
  • Track data values and widget states to be displayed by UI
  • Create UI graphical assets and widgets for use in flight operations
  • Perform iterative usability testing and validation via card sorting, interviews, surveys, click dummies
  • Help define the next phases of the development roadmap
  • Create final deliverables: style guides, asset coordinate tables/wires, form and behavior specifications
  • Lead GUI validation aligned with software implementation activities

Required:

  • 5+ years experience in human factors, specifically for human/machine interface design in Aviation,  Automotive or Medical
  • Experience designing/wireframing UI elements, rapid prototyping, and sketching
  • Experience working and communicating with customers to get high-level user requirements
  • Experience designing for screens and hard switch inputs

Desired:

  • Experience in aviation
  • Experience in software design (safety-critical preferred)
  • Experience delivering certified safety-critical software (e.g. DO178B/C, or equivalent in non-aviation fields like automotive, medical devices, etc.)
  • MS Human-Centered Design
  • Preferred experience working in an agile environment
