According to the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, tens of billions of tons of CO2 need to removed from the atmosphere by 2050 to keep the average global temperature increase below 1.5 °C. Unfortunately, existing technologies are too expensive and can’t scale to the volume necessary. Our <a href="https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-020-16510-3">Nature published</a> technology combines the natural properties of minerals (carbon mineralization) with engineering (direct air capture) to provide a low cost path to $50/tCO2 removed. 
Over the next 18 months, we will build an amazing team of engineers, scientists, and operators, build a demonstration plant, and validate the commercial viability of this technology.
About the job
We are looking for a passionate and energetic problem solver to lead all aspects of Heirloom’s office operations, including government contracting, financial ops, human resources, and administrative functions. The ideal candidate will execute independently on their day-to-day, be highly detail-oriented, and happily juggle many different tasks at once.

<h3>Responsibilities</h3>
<ul><li>Help build an exciting, supportive, and energizing office environment</li>
<li>Handle an ever-changing list of tasks and responsibilities as the organization grows </li>
<li>Oversee the administration of multi-million-dollar state and federal grants and contracts</li>
<li>Assist in the preparation of new proposals for federal and state funding, including federal budgeting</li>
<li>Manage government registrations and compliance, including permitting</li>
<li>Be the “hub” for company systems (think payroll, accounting, benefits, etc.) and the go-to problem solver for daily operations</li>
<li>Lead the search for a company HQ and demo plant</li>
<li>Keep our facilities operational, well-maintained and in compliance with regulatory standards (e.g. HVAC, electrical, plumbing, security/alarm systems)</li>
<li>Manage relations with building management, vendors and contractors, and assist with contract renewals.</li>
<li>Manage other vendor relationships, contracts, purchase orders, invoices, and records</li>
<li>Directly support the team in business, financial, and logistical operations</li>
</ul><h3>Minimum Qualifications</h3>
<ul><li>3+ years of experience in research assistance, and/or office and facilities management; bachelor's degree preferred</li>
<li>Compassion and respect for teammates, and a passion for helping those around you</li>
<li>Knowledge of organizational effectiveness and operations management</li>
<li>Comfort with technical concepts and language</li>
<li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills</li>
<li>Superb project management, planning and organization skills</li>
<li>Ability to learn and use cloud based organizational tools</li>
<li>A customer service mindset for working with vendors, contractors, and facilities </li>
<li>Capable of learning quickly and problem solving in an ambiguous, fast paced environment</li>
<li>Ability to effectively interact with a broad range of colleagues</li>
<li>Passion for new technologies and the climate</li>
</ul><h3>Preferred Qualifications</h3>
<ul><li>Prior operations management experience</li>
<li>Experience in writing and managing technical proposals and grants for large-scale projects</li>
<li>Experience managing US state and federal grants and contracts</li>
<li>Experience managing budgets and forecasts for technical projects</li>
