Job Description

The Global Warming Mitigation Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that is identifying, activating, and accelerating projects and programs worldwide that are reducing greenhouse gas emissions and increasing carbon uptake. This includes direct funding of vetted organizations, enhancing networking and promotional efforts, identifying ways to unleash funding opportunities for climate solutions, and supporting climate justice. 

Currently, our programs include the Keeling Curve Prizes and the Sphere. The Keeling Curve Prize awards $250,000 annually to projects that display proven carbon uptake, drawdown, or sequestration efforts. The Sphere is a networking portal for climate projects, funders, and individuals. 

Position Description: 

The primary function of this position is to manage the Sphere programs, including the Troposphere, Stratosphere, and Constellations programs, and assist our Development Director in fundraising for the Global Warming Mitigation Project. Specific responsibilities include: 

- Audit members of the Sphere, maintain the functions of the Sphere, add members to the Troposphere each year 

- Maintain communications with members of the Sphere and help brainstorm potential new programs that could benefit Sphere members 

- Organize and run the Constellations Internship application process and program for three semesters each year 

- Communicate with Troposphere members to post available internship opportunities - Serve as a point of contact for Troposphere members for the posting and hiring process - Develop a network of participating college and university partners; work with career development departments to advertise open positions to students 

- Collect, manage, and distribute position applications from students to Sphere organizations - Finalize the cohort and create 1-2 virtual events per semester 

- Follow up with interns and Sphere members about their experience twice over the course of the semester 

- Write 2-3 intern spotlight blogs per semester 

- Assist Development Director in fundraising efforts, specifically for Sphere, but also for the Keeling Curve Prize 

- Conduct major donor and foundation research 

- Assist with the creation of fundraising materials, especially those that pitch Sphere programs - Assist with virtual and in-person event planning 

- Assist with grant writing 

- Assist Analyst team in Keeling Curve Prize application organization 

- Assist with administrative duties and special projects as they arise 

A successful candidate has: 

- 1-2 years experience in a fast-paced, non-profit environment 

- A desire to work in a self-directed manner in a remote work environment 

- Demonstrated ability to work across multiple workstreams, yet remain organized 

- Strong written and verbal communication skills 

- In-depth knowledge of the climate space, climate science, and current conversations around climate change

This is a full-time position, and the selected candidate will work remotely with our small, tight-knit team, and collaborate regularly with our part-time graphic designer. Salary range 40-42k, depending on experience and negotiable.
