Quality Assurance Lead’s primary role is to ensure that all food products produced at our Co-manufacturers meet requirements of customers, regulatory bodies, and the Perfect Day Company. Quality Assurance lead is responsible for the overall coordination and implementation of quality programs and procedures, as necessary to meet internal and customer specific quality standards

What You'll be Doing:

  • Coordinate the implementation and adherence of all necessary quality programs at manufacturing facilities (contract, external, and internal), warehouses, and raw material suppliers
  • Ensure that food safety programs and systems are appropriately designed, effectively managed, and comply with all applicable regulations
  • Liaise with external and internal manufacturing quality departments and monitor performance against Perfect Day procedures, product specifications, and relevant Key Performance Indicators
  • Work closely with operation and product development teams to ensure food safety requirements and quality standards are incorporated into the development process.
  • Provide support during plant trials and production runs for product launches
  • Ensure Perfect Day and Co-manufacturer’s food safety/quality policies are followed and implemented
  • Appraise customers’ requirements and make sure they are satisfied
  • Conduct investigation relating to customer complaints, determine root cause, and purpose corrective action.
  • Effectively identify food safety and quality risks in the product or process development process and communicate risk to cross-functional stakeholders while providing solutions to mitigate those risks.
  • Facilitate proactive solutions by collecting and analyzing quality data
  • Review current standards and policies, make a proper revision to include verification and validation
  • Keep records of quality reports, statistical reviews, and relevant documentation. Ensure all legal standards are met.
  • Ensure co-packers, co-manufacturers, and 3rd party warehouses meet Food Safety and quality standard and comply with food safety regulations. Ensure that new Perfect Day manufacturing partners are successfully on-boarded and qualified prior to commercial production by working cross-functionally with internal and external partners
  • Oversee co-manufacturers HACCP, FSMA, pre-requisite quality programs, and all quality/food safety
  • related programs to meet internal, regulatory and/or customer requirements
  • Ensure all sanitation and food safety guidelines are being met throughout the co-manufacturing facilities
  • Generate reports describing QA activities, trends, and expenditures as well as communicate findings and action plans to necessary/appropriate parties
  • Ensure co-manufacturers’ plant audit corrective action plans are implemented in a timely manner
  • Conduct routine validations of co-manufacturers compliance to Perfect Day standards
  • Plan the shelf life studies to validate instructions, microbial limits and organoleptic properties qualifications
  • Conduct annual HACCP assessments
  • Responsible for the continued growth of internal quality systems
  • Demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

What Skills and Experience We Need:

  • BS or higher in Food Science, Microbiology, or related field with a minimum of 8 years of QA experience in Dairy and or food Industry.
  • Must have experience developing, implementing, and maintaining GFSI food safety and quality management programs and leading teams at a corporate or plant level.
  • High level of technical aptitude.
  • Experience with external auditing, risk identification and mitigation development, and comprehensive employee food safety and quality training.
  • HACCP, GMP, sanitation, and internal audit knowledge and experience
  • Experienced in Quality Management System; food safety, product quality, and regulatory agencies compliance such as FDA, CDPH, and USDA.
  • Manage documentation internally along with external partners and suppliers,
  • Ability to adapt and excel in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of methodologies of quality assurance and standards
  • Excellent numerical skills and understanding of data analysis/statistical methods
  • Ability to prepare SOP, SSOP, food safety policies, and product quality specifications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects/workload.
  • Self-starter with good organizational skills; able to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Leadership skills, focused on results, employee’s engagement, decision making, teamwork, change management.
