Position: Director, R&D Facility Operations and Real Estate 

Pivot Bio operations are expanding at a rapid pace.  We are looking for a Director of R&D Facility Operations and Real Estate to lead the management and operations of Pivot Bio research locations across the country.  This newly created role, reporting to our Chief Scientific Officer & Co-Founder, will build upon the strong foundation created by our Lab Operations & Facilities team and bring Pivot to our next stage of growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure safe and smooth operations of Pivot Bio’s multi-city facilities across the nation, including offices, laboratories and greenhouses.
  • Manage the teams that enable R&D operations: Laboratory Services, Facilities Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety, Shipping & Receiving.
  • In collaboration with team managers, develop, implement and continuously improve plans supporting the ongoing activity of each location. 
  • Strategic planning for new space needs, ensuring space, construction and design effectively meet current and anticipated needs. 
  • Serve as the primary contact and lead negotiator for real estate contracts, building/expansion plans. 

Requirements:

  • 10+ years experience in facilities and real estate management
  • Advanced knowledge in the areas of space planning, building codes, capacity forecasting, security, and safety risk mitigation
  • Advanced interpersonal and communication skills, able to collaborate across diverse groups internally and externally
  • Experience in managing a cross functional team
  • Experience in life science field is a plus
  • Estimated travel to Pivot’s facilities across the country - 25%
