If you are looking to play a part in making a positive impact in the world by advancing the revolutionary work of self-driving cars, join us.

We are looking for a Senior Hardware Test Engineer with experience in electromechanical product manufacturing and validation testing. You will partner with electrical and mechanical engineers, firmware engineers, technical program managers, and our suppliers to ensure comprehensive test coverage in development and manufacturing settings. This includes but is not limited to: identifying testing needs, developing test methods and test stations to execute them, and partnering with internal technicians and external partners to execute tests.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Ensure proper manufacturing and/or validation test coverage for Cruise AV components. The result of your work enables capturing design weakness in the development phase and screening out manufacturing defects before they are shipped.

  • Develop test methods and specifications to verify and validate Cruise AV components designs against functional, performance, and reliability requirements, in both development and production environments.
  • Work with suppliers to develop test stations to implement accurate test coverage, which may include IQC, inline, EOL, OQC, ESS, burn-in, and reliability testing.
  • Test station development involves mechanical fixture design, instrumentation selection, harness design, testing script development, and data reporting.
  • For manufacturing tests at suppliers, work with multi-functional teams to develop the proper test coverage, develop the test stations needed to execute them, and drive supplier execution.
  • For validation tests at Cruise or our lab partners, own test preparation, authorize test methods, train technicians to execute and supervise test executions
  • Analyze testing data and collaborate with multi-functional teams on failure root cause and design countermeasures
  • Participate in design review and xFMEA meetings to ensure lessons learned and standard methodologies are incorporated
