Job Description

Bowery Farming, the Modern Farming Company, was founded in 2015 with the belief that technology and human ingenuity can grow better food for a better future. Propelled by its proprietary software system, the BoweryOS, Bowery builds smart indoor vertical farms that deliver a wide variety of Protected Produce — in little time, near cities they serve, for a truly local approach. Bowery’s farms are growing the next generation of vibrant and flavorful produce. They’re 100 times more productive on the same footprint of land than traditional agriculture, and grow traceable pesticide-free produce – the purest, best expression of what produce is meant to be – with a fraction of the water and land. About The Role: Bowery Farming is seeking a R&D Experiment Coordinator to join the R&D Operations team. This role will be the daily link between Farm Operations and Ag Scientists for Bowery Farming’s R&D facilities. Working closely with the R&D Team Leads, this individual will interpret experimental requests into actionable workflows and look for opportunities to improve the day-to-day operation through process improvement and compliance workflows. This individual will interact cross functionally across multiple teams including Agricultural Sciences, R&D Operations, Facilities Maintenance, Supply Chain, and Human Resources.

What You'll Do:

  • Be the primary intermediary for the Ag Scientists and the R&D Farms
  • Manage the experimental proposal process to be in-line with operational and facility bandwidth
  • Ensure experimental data standards are meeting scientific rigor and facilitate the training of operational staff on data taking practices
  • Lead scientific process improvement initiatives by building experimental SOPs by work stream
  • Work with R&D Team Leads to train R&D Farmers on core processes to improve the working skill base of the R&D function
  • Manage R&D Farm improvement projects in tandem with the R&D Operations Lead to improve the fidelity of today’s experiments and anticipate future workstreams.
  • Track and report on R&D Farm Compliance metrics to ensure experimental data is within specification
  • Utilize system data to inform the R&D Facilities Team on environmental and system risks
  • Promote a culture of learning by partnering with Ag Scientists to develop R&D Farmers scientific acumen
