Job Description

Why We’re RAD (about us):
Rad Power Bikes is on a mission to get people onto bikes, electric bikes built for everything and priced for everyone - the weekend warriors, hardcore commuters, and family cyclists.
Madly growing and headquartered in Seattle, WA, we seek a gifted Software Architect to design and implement the future roadmap of Rad Power Bike’s technology stack. As Rad continues to grow, the evolution of our technologies need to keep pace. This role will be a critical piece to the success of Rad’s mission.  This role can be supported remotely ideally from Seattle, Vancouver-BC, Portland or Salt Lake City.
Our Software Architect would be a champion of technology - driving the advancement of our product’s quality, performance, and security. They’d be working closely with other leaders in Engineering on complex technical projects across multiple teams, while actively searching for solutions that empower design and development to iterate at a Rad pace.

Why You’re RAD (about you):

  • 7+ years of technical experience standing up scalable technology stacks
  • You’ve provided technical guidance and leadership through the design, implementation and delivery of large technical projects that cross-cut products (e.g. upgrading system versions and refactoring integral product components)
  • You’ve directed research and technical analysis of new candidate technologies that fill a development team’s business or technical needs
  • You contribute enhancements to development, build, deployment, and monitoring processes with an emphasis on security, reliability and performance
  • Deliver process improvements that increase ease of adoption and implementation across the organization

Additional Requirements:

  • Proven ability to deliver both customer-driven value and innovative technical solutions leveraging enterprise cloud infrastructure
  • Strong understanding of Dev Ops practices with a good understanding of AWS and Google Cloud infrastructure
  • Ability to plan, articulate and gain organizational alignment on a technical vision
  • Ability to stay on top of technical direction/frameworks beyond Rad Power Bikes and advocate for their adoption when appropriate
  • Jira is your friend - You contribute to, define and track project-level work on large technical projects while ensuring visibility to team
  • Open Communication: clearly conveys thoughts, both written and verbally, listening attentively and asking questions for clarification and understanding
  • Decision Making: consistently chooses the best course of action (from a number of alternatives) to address business problems and/or opportunities
  • Influence: Asserts own ideas and persuades others, gaining support and commitment and mobilizing people to take action
  • Priority Setting: focuses time/energy on the most important issues/opportunities. Clearly understand how to assess the importance of tasks and decisions
  • Problem Solving: uses an organized and logical approach to find solutions to complex problems. Looks beyond the obvious to understand the root cause of problems
