Job Description

Camus Energy is a venture-backed software development company in San Francisco. We believe that creativity, innovation, and advanced software tools are needed to support the rapid decarbonization of electric grids globally. Our founders and partners are leveraging experiences from other industries -- including the founders’ pioneering work building Google’s global traffic management platform -- to address new opportunities on distribution grids.

By providing grid operators and load serving entities with advanced situational awareness, insight, and control, Camus Energy’s platform empowers industry leaders to safely and strategically manage a fast-changing grid environment. We are building an open source platform to enable the future Distribution System Operator (DSO).

The Role and Responsibilities

Strategic Marketing and Business Development are two of the fastest growing areas of focus for Camus Energy. The Strategic Marketing intern will play a critical role in building a robust pipeline of future customers and positioning Camus as a leader in the emerging Grid Management software space. This person will be involved in both strategy development and execution, working collaboratively with and reporting to our Head of Marketing.

This is a cross-functional role in a small, lean team environment. The position will support our Product and Marketing efforts, while leading initiatives to enable strategic growth.. Additionally, as a small company, we expect everyone to have a share of "generalist" time.

In this role you’ll:

  • Develop a deep understanding of the customer journey: identifying key touchpoints, challenges and buying behavior
  • Define external positioning and author collateral (sales presentations, blogs, case studies, etc.) to improve awareness, consideration, and conversion
  • Generate new leads and build lists for outbound marketing campaigns with LinkedIn, social media, and paid advertisements
  • Develop a "test and learn" plan to garner quick, agile learnings -- inclusive of paid ads, social media posts, and email marketing efforts
  • Work collaboratively with third-party marketing agencies and freelancers
  • Support the evolving marketing needs of a growing startup, challenging the status quo with big ideas

About You

We are looking for an entrepreneurial person who enjoys solving ambiguous, complex problems and can drive tremendous growth in our customer-centric marketing efforts.

Our ideal candidate will have marketing experience in a B2B environment. Bonus points for candidates familiar with the energy sector and/or with enterprise SaaS experience.

What we expect from you on the first day

  • Currently pursuing a graduate degree (MBA preferred) OR relevant work experience
  • Able to commit to a 10-week (or 12-week) remote internship at 40 hours per week
  • 3-5 years of work experience in marketing, management consulting, and/or entrepreneurial projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills with the ability to translate technology features into business benefits
  • Enjoy working collaboratively with a diverse team of talented and fun people; also capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment

Bonus points for

  • Experience with electric utilities and/or enterprise SaaS platforms
  • Experience developing marketing campaigns that engage, educate and motivate
  • Skilled in creative content writing or in managing external writers
  • A strong leader, self-starter and excellent teammate

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive hourly rate
  • Remote-work with flexible work schedule
  • The chance to work in a fast-paced start-up environment that is working on climate impact within the energy transition
