Job Description

Who we are:

Arcadia is a climate crisis-fighting technology company founded in 2014 and born out of a simple idea—everyone deserves access to clean energy. Arcadia breaks the fossil fuel monopoly by creating unprecedented access to energy data and renewable energy sources through its technology platform and its community solar program. Our platform fuels the Internet-of-Energy revolution by accessing data from hundreds of utilities nationwide, covering more than 70% of US electric utility accounts. Arcadia manages over five Terawatt-hours of residential and commercial energy demand and is the largest manager of community solar assets in the country.

What we’re looking for:

We are seeking a thoughtful and driven Engineering Manager to grow, organize, and coach 5-7 engineers responsible for building mission-critical products & services. The right candidate will champion team members – removing roadblocks, advocating for their needs, and enabling their personal/professional growth & development – while leading them to continuously navigate complex engineering problems, architect scalable solutions, and deliver significant software into production. Our teams write software to expand renewable energy access to millions of households across the country. If you’re as excited about having an impact on this effort and the lives and careers of the people who build it, we encourage you to apply.

Our core stack includes several Ruby on Rails apps, a GraphQL service layer, and a number of React clients. We also have a data pipeline that relies heavily on AWS Lambdas running Python. Our infrastructure is based on Kubernetes running on AWS.

The ideal candidate is someone who wants to influence how our team builds and stays relevant, and who wants to work in a collaborative environment with engineers on a high-morale, tightly-knit team. Our engineering values are deeply ingrained in our culture-- you can read more about them here. We are prioritizing hires based in the DC, MD, VA, NY, and NJ areas but we are open to fully remote candidates residing in one of Arcadia’s registered states. Please see our careers page for more information.
