The Simulation team delivers products that accelerate and validate our autonomous vehicle (AV) development through specialized frameworks and tools. Cruise is looking for a highly experienced Advisor to the VP of Simulation. In this executive level role, you will be responsible for executing strategic and operational programs for the entire Simulation team. Our ideal candidate will be technically adept and metrics driven, with outstanding communication skills and executive presence. This person will be a force multiplier, incubating new projects, developing technical roadmaps, finding areas of improvements and efficiencies, and demonstrating cross-functional relationships to drive execution across all of Simulation.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Drive operational programs across the Simulation team
  • Develop partnerships with a wide range of internal partners and customers
  • Lead technical deep dives and have a deep understanding of our technical road map, our customers’ requirements and needs, and a vision for how to achieve our goals over the next 6-12 months
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with executives, senior leaders, and partner teams to achieve project objectives and deliverables
  • Identify, develop, and implement continuous process improvements
  • Advise the Simulation leaders, acting as proxy for the VP

What you must have:

  • Passion for safe, fully-electric, self-driving technology and its upcoming impact on the world
  • 12+ years of experience in a similar role or industry
  • 8+ years in engineering leadership roles
  • Strong communication skills (written/verbal) and executive presence. Comfortable speaking across all organizational levels and departments to complex technical issues and topics
  • Deep understanding of engineering and a desire to implement and advocate for standard methodologies across the organization
  • BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or similar technical field

  • Experience developing and using simulation systems
  • Exceptional ability to write clean, fast, reliable and highly scalable software
  • Prior simulation experience, especially an understanding of autonomous vehicle simulation
