POSITION SUMMARY Hannon Armstrong is currently seeking an Analyst or Associate with financial modeling experience to join our team in Annapolis, MD.  This individual will work on the 18-member Investment Team with the Structured Investments Group in building and managing Hannon Armstrong’s sustainable investment portfolio. The core responsibilities of the role will focus on supporting transaction execution, specifically: building and managing financial models, completing investment analysis and due diligence, reconciling financial documentation and assisting with business development activities.  This position is based in Annapolis, Maryland (with temporary remote work possible at the time of hire due to the pandemic).  

RESPONSIBILITES

  • The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following

Investing Activities 
  • Work collaboratively as a member of the transaction team in all facets of investment execution, from initial evaluation, term sheet and documentation negotiation, due diligence, internal approvals, and closing. 
  • Build and manage financing models for debt/equity investments, including project and portfolio pro formas, complete supporting analysis and evaluate/manage the associated risks.
  • Support transaction and due diligence processes, including scenario analysis, preparation of internal investment approval materials, and review of transaction documentation and underlying project agreements (i.e. operating agreements, financing agreements, and power offtake agreements).
  • Work closely with the cross-functional finance team (Investment Group, Portfolio Management, Capital Markets, Accounting, and Engineering/Technical) to develop appropriate assumptions for project investment models.

Capital Markets Activities
  • Liaise for corporate due diligence requirements related to underlying project and portfolio investments.

Portfolio Management
  • Work closely with the members of the Portfolio Management and risk management team to provide specific investment expertise to assist in commercial decision making relating to operating portfolio assets. 

 

SPECIFIC RECOMMENDED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Strong MS Excel financial modeling and data mining skills, ideally with demonstrable experience developing and managing complex financial models
  • Relevant industry experience in finance or energy sectors preferred
  • Strong attention to detail, team-oriented, collaborative
  • Excellent communication skills (including writing, speaking and  listening)
  • Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, innovative and entrepreneurial environment

EDUCATION AND PRIOR WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year institution
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, ideally with experience in financial modeling and structured debt/equity investments
  • Demonstrated interest in sustainable investing
