About the Role: 

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, Imperfect Foods is looking for a Senior Accountant to join the General Ledger team. The Senior Accountant plays a key role in the month-end close process.  The ideal candidate will have a solid accounting background, comprehensive understanding of GAAP, strongly analytical, and problem-solving skills.  You will have experience working in high-growth environments and scaling accounting tasks through automation and/or process improvements.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes including preparation of journal entries including accruals, prepaids, revenue, and payroll entries.
  • Perform monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, verifying the accuracy of transactions and balances, identifying unusual trends and necessary adjustments.
  • Understand the daily activities of the department and aid in coordinating and managing the period-end close process to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Manage expense reimbursement platform and corporate credit card accounts.
  • Partner with other departments (IT, Marketing, HR, etc) to obtain transaction information, research reconciling items, and resolve issues.
  • Liaise and provide accounting support to the Finance team.
  • Perform ad hoc analysis and develop or recommend accounting methods and procedures as required.
  • Assist with external audit by providing supporting schedules and documentation as requested.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ accounting experience with a blend of Big 4 and industry accounting experience preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting and/or Finance required
  • Knowledge of GAAP, regulatory standards, and compliance requirements
  • CPA preferred
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP 
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience with NetSuite and/or other mid/top tier accounting systems and tools
  • Ability to multi-task and take on a large volume of work in a high-growth environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communication

Details of Position:

  • Full-time exempt position reports to the Controller 
  • Remote position to locations based in Pacific Standard Timezone areas ONLY

How we are protecting employees from COVID-19

At Imperfect Foods, employee health and safety is our top priority. We have implemented processes and precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our facilities. We provide gloves, masks, and hand sanitizer to all essential employees who must report to work. Before entering our warehouse, employees have their temperatures checked. In addition, we take great care to ensure frequently touched surfaces are sanitized throughout the day and all warehouses are fully sanitized weekly.

We have also implemented an Emergency Sick Leave policy providing full-time and part-time employees 2 additional weeks of paid time off and up to 26 weeks paid leave if they have a confirmed case of COVID-19.
