Job Description

Indigo improves grower profitability, environmental sustainability, and consumer health through the use of natural microbiology and digital technologies. Utilizing beneficial plant microbes and agronomic insights, Indigo works with growers to sustainably produce high quality harvests. The company then connects growers and buyers directly to bring these harvests to market. The role of the Agronomist is to delight Indigo growers with world-class crop advisory services and efficient capturing of field data from growers. Indigo agronomists will have the opportunity to work with a group of forward-thinking growers that have planted Indigo product on their farms or have enrolled into the Indigo Carbon program r– key responsibilities include but are not limited to: data collection, field scouting, crop monitoring, agronomic advise, , and building agronomic tools all with the ultimate goal of maximizing grower profitability. The agronomist will have the opportunity to create lasting relationships with a core grower base, partner with Indigo Account Managers to help growers succeed financially and promote sustainable farming practices that are good for the environment.

Key Outcomes

  • Play a lead role in engaging with growers to collect farm-level data in support of both Indigo Carbon and Indigo’s microbiological product portfolio
  • Advise/consult with growers to implement practices that enable carbon sequestration and the abatement of emissions to maximize carbon credit generation, greater agronomic productivity and overall farm profitability
  • Support growers in the selection and usage of Indigo’s biological products by providing unbiased agronomic advice for improving yield, reducing inputs and maximizing overall farm productivity
  • Perform in-season crop monitoring and engage growers in support of the evaluation and developing of Indigo’s biological portfolio
  • Play a lead-role in developing Indigo’s digital agronomy agenda in Germany through the selection and management of key grower decision making tools
  • Develop and implement a suit of on-line decision-making tools for Indigo Carbon growers, to enhance yield, quality, reduce costs and maximize carbon sequestration and the abatement of greenhouse gases
  • Assist Grower Account Managers during on-farm visits with deep technical agronomic expertise to sign up new growers and maintain a book of agronomic business
  • Partner with the Grower Account Manager to provide an exceptional customer experience and drive customer retention

Key Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of experience in region in a leading agronomy role
  • Masters or Bachelors in Agronomy
  • Experience in farm data collection & analysis and use of digital agronomy tools
  • Interest and/or experience in farm economics preferable
  • Experience in a specific region / crop
  • May come from farm management companies
  • Has strong knowledge of farming, may have farming background
  • Fluent in German, good command of English and other EU languages preferable
