SUMMARY

Nexamp is seeking a Solar Design Engineer Intern to perform design engineering tasks for commercial and utility scale photovoltaic systems.

Schedule: June 2021 - December 2021

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Independently create and optimize conceptual design layouts and schematics for grid-tied photovoltaic power plants and battery storage systems
  • Design AC and DC electrical single-line diagrams for solar power plants utilizing AutoCAD
  • Create and optimize energy production models for solar power plants utilizing PVSYST, Helios 3D, and Helioscope software
  • Perform medium voltage design work in support utility interconnection and permitting application processes
  • Develop proficiency in NEC and other applicable state and local codes
  • Interface with a variety of professional engineering disciplines including civil, structural, and electrical.
  • Provide technical support to Nexamp development, engineering, procurement, construction, and O&M departments for the entire life cycle of a project including development, permitting, construction, and asset management phases.
  • Additional duties as assigned and/or directed.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ideal candidate must be enthusiastic, self-motivated, and customer and results-oriented.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field, or a current student pursuing the same
  • AutoCAD experience preferred
  • Knowledge of basic electrical principles preferred
  • PVSYST, Helioscope, and/or Helios 3D Solar Park Planning software familiarity is a plus
  • Knowledge of industry standard design codes such as National Electric Code, International Building Code, International Fire Code and other standards relevant to the industry preferred
  • MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software proficiency
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as work independently
  • Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects and tasks
