The Senior Manager of Building Decarbonization is a leader and collaborator who will help shape and grow Slipstream’s impact in the equitable decarbonization of Chicago and its region. This position is remote, but be local to the Chicago area.

The Senior Manager will advise and lead initiatives that are underway, as well as generate new innovative opportunities for mission impact and program creation.  The Senior Manager will build on a personal history of inclusive leadership and direct impact, bringing his/her/their own expertise and relationships to compliment Slipstream’s existing capabilities.  The work is and will be funded by sources such as, foundations, utility energy efficiency programs and other partnerships.

The Senior Manager is responsible for the development, resourcing and delivery of programs and initiatives for Slipstream, toward its mission-driven organizational goals. This position will focus on key themes equitable decarbonization of the built environment through:

  • Low-/no-carbon new building construction
  • Equity in energy solutions
  • Building codes & standards
  • Community energy solutions
  • Beneficial electrification
  • Market transformation
  • Workforce Development

Primary and Essential Responsibilities

1.  Provide oversight, creative solutions, and strategy for the growth of innovative programs and research initiatives underway in the Illinois market in commercial and/or residential building energy efficiency and decarbonization.

2.  In collaboration with Slipstream executive leadership, develop new program innovations and services

3. Conduct stakeholder engagement, deliver community/industry presentations and orchestrate meetings that require complex decision-making, collaboration and senior-level judgment.

4. Develop/maintain relationships and represent Slipstream in community and industry groups, toward a goal of developing new initiatives and programs.

5. Manage programs, research initiatives or services offered by the organization. This includes activities such as:

  •  Leading the client/funder relationship.
  •  Overseeing program/service/project design, planning and delivery, including the oversight of staff resources and     implementation tools
  • Negotiating and executing projects contracts
  • Developing and monitoring project budgets.
  • Establishing and managing subcontracts.
  • Establishing and leading cross functional teams within and outside of Slipstream that deliver on common program goals.
  • Ensuring project goals, quality and success metrics are met.
  • Lead ongoing analysis of program/services or project effectiveness throughout the life of the program or project to ensure client needs are being met.
  • Develop tools and processes to support the execution of programs or projects.

6. Supervisory responsibilities including setting goals for performance and deadlines in ways that comply with company's plans  and vision. Organizing workflow and ensuring that employees understand their duties or delegated tasks. Monitoring employee productivity and providing constructive feedback and coaching.

7. These responsibilities are not all inclusive and other duties may be assigned from time-to-time.
