LIMS Administrator

Here at Modern Meadow we are harnessing the power of design, biology, and engineering to produce biofabricated materials. Applying the latest tools of biotechnology, we are creating a new type of materials company. As we continue to grow, we are seeking to hire a LIMS Administrator to work within the R&D organization of Modern Meadow

This is a technical role responsible for the oversight and daily administration of the Modern Meadow LIMS/ ELN application.  In addition, this position will assist in data mining efforts and developing data visualization for the business/technical teams.  

The individual will work with research scientists, associates and IT managers to ensure seamless integration and the creation of new functionality and workflows. The System Administrator is responsible for the state of the LIMS system and therefore LIMS expertise will be critical to the maintenance and ongoing sustainment of the system.

The candidate should be proficient in researching issues via vendor and community knowledge base articles and forums along with direct vendor interaction to make recommendations for both operational improvements and resolving technical problems

Responsibilities:

• Maintain the integrity of LIMS environments (production and non-production)
• Perform business analysis activities to understanding R&D processes and translate requirements into LIMS functionality
• Introduce technical changes into the environment using a structured approach that minimizes risk and achieves high reliability, availability, and performance for each LIMS environment
• Maintain LIMS performance by planning and executing LIMS tuning strategies
• Monitor LIMS server environments (performance level, system logs, disk space, etc.)
• Execute the planning and implementation of LIMS system upgrades, patches and bug fixes
• Develop and execute training for end users
• Collaboration with technical organization and 3rd party IT support personnel
• Develop and maintain system documentation for LIMS and its interfaces
• Ability to create new LIMS workflows based off rapidly changing needs

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience administering a LIMS application, LabVantage strongly preferred.
• Experience with MSSQL a plus
• Experience with AWS/Azure a plus
• Experience with other enterprise/standalone tools such Jmp, Bartender, Jasper Reports is preferred
• Familiarity with interfacing lab instruments with IT systems
• MS Windows Server knowledge is a plus
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong teamwork and problem-solving abilities
• Must be able to handle a fast-paced environment
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
• B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent degree.
