The Software team plays a critical role in advancing both efforts, by creating a diverse set of tools that the rest of Form uses to do excellent work. Our current internal products range from energy grid optimization tools, to ETL pipelines for data generated by lab experiments, to apps to manage lab operations—and we’re just getting started. In this role, you’ll be the first software platform engineer at Form, one of the first 5 members of the Software team, and one of the first ~100 members of the company. You’ll focus on crafting and executing on a platform roadmap that accelerates our work today and lays a solid foundation for the future. Example early projects may include setting up Airflow, lowering the barrier for non-engineers to get code into production, and designing a systems architecture for our data warehouse. This is a unique opportunity to apply your broad software experience to make a direct impact on climate change. <br><h3>What You'll Do:</h3><ul><li>Identify high-ROI opportunities to improve how our software engineers and algorithm developers get work done today, and keep an eye out for the challenges we’re about to hit</li><li>Make key build-vs-buy decisions in collaboration with stakeholdersIf build, then design, build, launch, and maintain; if buy, then configure, roll out, and support</li><li>Advocate for software engineering best practices across the company, and lead by example</li><li>Wear many hats and lead multiple concurrent projects</li><li>Work as a collaborative member of the Software team</li></ul><h3>What We're Looking For:</h3><ul><li>At least 5 years of professional software engineering industry experience </li><li>Hands-on experience in at least 2 of the following ecosystems (ideally 3+), and interest in picking up the others: app hosting, ML/algorithms hosting, ETL, data warehouse, security</li><li>Experience owning critical infrastructure at both early-stage and later-stage companies, leading to hard-won wisdom about the needs of growing software systems</li><li>Passion for collaborating both with seasoned engineers and with those newer to programming</li><li>A pragmatic approach to problem-solving that blends good judgement, clear communication, dependable follow-through, creative use of resources, and joy in the process</li><li>Bonus points for experience in batteries or related industries (eg solar, hardware, IoT, chemistry, manufacturing)</li></ul><br>Must be able to obtain US work authorization Compensation, Benefits, and Perks Form Energy is committed to equitable compensation and we offer a generous benefits package to make sure you have the support you need.
