Cruise is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to lead the requirements for the Automotive Audio Bus (A2B) which will change how the audio network is captured, analyzed for safety, and tested. In this position, you will interact with our Hardware Engineering, Safety Engineering, Security Engineering, Systems Integration Engineering, and Test Engineering teams. What you’ll be doing:

  • Drive the requirement's definition, analysis, development, and documentation of autonomous vehicle communication network
  • Chart out the communication strategy for interfaces between key sensors connected over audio buses including touch sensors, and microphones
  • Translate system requirements and implementation architecture into testable product requirements and design specifications (should understand connecting system level requirements to component level requirements)
  • Conduct and participate in feature and system safety analysis
  • Create test plans that ensures upstream traceability to network requirements
  • Lead technical discussions, build and manage relationships with cross-functional teams, and internal/external partners

What you must have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Systems Engineering
  • 5+ years of postgraduate experience in Systems Engineering or similar role for Automotive Audio Bus (A2B) network architecture and communication strategies
  • Experience with audio system design, microphones, and other audio sound management, e.g. noise cancellation, audio quality and sound enhancement technology.
  • Experience in designing system-level communication architecture with knowledge of network design
  • Experience with driving requirements for HW/SW systems, and managing traceability.
  • Understanding of safety analysis including (D)FMEAs, fault tree analysis and hazard analysis
  • Experience working with test teams in reviewing test plans, and ensuring test results validating the requirements
  • Experience in documenting requirements using off-the-shelf tools
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills from presentations to senior leadership to authoring requirements

Bonus points!

  • Knowledge of in-vehicle communication networks (Automotive Ethernet, CAN etc.)
  • Experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS, JAMA, Rhapsody, etc.
