Backend Developer (Java)

We’re a team of highly regarded engineers, consultants and economists who are trusted leaders within our fields, from guiding the growth of multi-country supply chains for Amazon Europe to developing and delivering multiple and bespoke scalable enterprise software solutions across various sectors including Sports and Leisure (English Football Association), Banking and Finance (Western Union, UBS),and providing specialist Consulting services to Oil & Gas and mining enterprises for BCG and Rio Tinto.

CarbonChain is looking to strengthen our Software Development team with a Java Backend rockstar. Responsible for server-side logic, database scripting, ensuring high performance and responsiveness of backend endpoints.

Specifically, you would be our SME for:

1. Integration of user-facing elements
2. Building reusable code and libraries
3. Optimisation of the application for maximum speed and scalability
4. Implementation of security and data protection
5. Design and implementation of data storage solutions

Qualifications:

• Computer Science degree or equivalent experience
• Experience in designing and implementing APIs and Microservices
• Experience building enterprise software
• Passionate about technology
• Strong core Java 8+ skills
• Core CS algorithms
• Spring Boot, JDBC, Maven
• TestNG, Mockito, SonarQube
• Docker, AWS, AWS ECS (Fargate), AWS CodeBuild/CodeDeploy/CodePipeline
• Nginx, Apache Tomcat (APR)
• PostgreSQL (standalone and AWS RDS)
• Redis (standalone and AWS ElastiCache)
• SQL, stored procedures/functions for PostgreSQL, SQL execution plan analysis and optimisation
• Setup and administration of backups
• Git, Bitbucket, GitFlow workflow
• Administration of CentOS, Ubuntu
• IntelliJ IDEA, WebStorm, Vim
• Strict TDD, BDD
• Pair Programming XP
• Rest Services
