Job Description

We’re looking for an experienced and talented Aviation Meteorologist who is a team player with high integrity and a proven track record of supporting aviation operations. This role can also be performed remotely inside the US.

What you bring:

  • 2+ years of operational experience as an aviation meteorologist - a must.
  • Able to work a variety of shifts (24/7), as well as weekends/holidays - a must.
  • Experience creating aviation weather forecasts - a must.
  • Experience creating turbulence and icing forecasts - a must.
  • Experience forecasting ceilings and visibility- a must.
  • Experience participating in conference calls pertaining to aviation meteorology.
  • Experience creating graphical weather hazard/risk outlooks focused on aviation operations over large geographic areas.
  • Strong familiarity with how various weather conditions (wind direction, wind speed, ceilings, visibility, etc.) will affect runway configurations at a given airport.
  • Strong familiarity with airline operations.
  • Strong familiarity with air traffic management programs and airspace classifications.
  • Strong synoptic and mesoscale meteorology skills, with significant experience forecasting convection, winter weather, and tropical weather.
  • Familiarity with impacts of volcanic ash and large-scale dust storms on aircraft and flight patterns/routes.
  • Familiarity with Convective-Allowing Models (CAMs) and their applicability to aviation meteorology.
  • Strong desire to improve aviation weather forecasts, and incorporate new data and processes into operational forecasting.
