Job Description

Tomorrow.io’s R&D department is a mixture of scientists and engineers committed to generating the best and most novel data and models across all times: historical, real-time and forecast. We also focus on making everything become a weather station (from cars to microwave links to IoT devices). The story just begins when the data hits our ingest and post-processing services. Every product that the user sees is the result of a pipeline of algorithms that needs to be run quickly and continuously. We are the team that builds the architecture behind the data and the models, to prepare the weather analyses, for the Product and Engineering team to serve to the masses.

We’re looking for a Software Engineer Intern to develop tools and frameworks that improve the developer experience (DX) of our core data platform. Our data platform handles massive amounts of data each day to deliver innovative weather products that many rely on to assess climate impacts on their businesses and lives. And soon, we’ll be adding proprietary satellite data to the platform with our Operation Tomorrow Space initiative, further improving our global forecasting capabilities!

As a Software Engineer Intern at tomorrow.io , you’ll build an auto-documentation framework and revamp an existing data monitoring system, and you will learn how to use industry-leading software development and devops technologies. The duration of the internship will be two months, but with the possibility of extension.

What you bring:

  • Proficiency in Python
  • Previous software development experience, whether it be in complex class projects, side projects, or work experience
  • You are an effective communicator and are proactive in asking questions and asking for help when needed
  • Teamwork is natural to you. You love working in a cross-functional team to establish an overall collaborative working relationship.
  • College senior or advanced junior

What sets you apart:

  • Experience with Sphinx
  • Experience with devops technologies, e.g. Makefiles, Configuration management, Docker, etc.
  • Experience with front-end technologies, e.g. Javascript, HTML, CSS, etc.

So if Automation is your middle name, you're a curious thinker and you want to learn how radar signals get transformed into cutting-edge weather products - this is the team and internship for you.

If you have reached this point and you are super excited but not sure you check all the boxes - we still want to speak with you! Your passion is priceless. Other things can be learned.
