The opportunity

As a result of rapid, continuous growth, Opus One needs an experienced and dedicated Commercial Operations Specialist to join our team in Canada, which is a client-centric, driven and results-oriented group focusing on enabling sales with strong understanding of the utility business perspective and driving the strategic growth by delivering exceptional end-to-end business and technical solutions to Opus One’s customers and partners in the energy market, performing daily sales process activities to enhance sales team productivity.

Reporting to the Commercial Operations Director, this position works truly in a cross-functional capacity working closely with our global partners, Account Managers, Marketing and Communications team, Product Management team, Research and Development team and Professional Services team.

As a Commercial Operations Specialist on our team, you will own sales operations, oversee business analytics and Salesforce enablement. Additionally, you will be intricate in managing opportunities through the sales process while taking ownership of the final deliverables to the customer. Working cross-functionally, you will work with subject matter experts to address issues, barriers to success and activities needed to submit a winning bid to the clients. Additionally, you will be integral in keeping Management and Executive Leadership engaged by generating ad hoc reports using our CRM and other reporting tools. A Commercial Operation Specialist, you are looking to step outside your comfort zone and take ownership of a very critical aspect of the company’s commercial operations. You want to lead a commercial function and have the experience and ideas to iterate and be a key contributor to the success and growth of the company. Ideally, looking for experience working with and understanding the utility challenges and opportunities at an operational and a regulatory level with the flexibility to undertake technical and functional analysis while focusing on client management and quality of services.

What will our Commercial Operations Specialist work on?

  • Leverage your ability to contribute to a fast-paced software sales environment, focused on supporting our Account Managers to new clients and be successful in winning competitive bids
  • Act as the internal point of contact for new or existing proposals, including preparing proposals, leading internal technical and commercial discussions
  • Work closely with our account managers, subject matter experts to ensure internal alignment and timely submission of bids and proposals.
  • Develop and cultivate strong relationships with relevant areas of the business to help strengthen partnerships and success within the team
  • Provide additional support and participation in special projects as required
  • Review CRM with Account Managers on upcoming proposals
  • Execute the activation and creation of contracts for new agreements or amendments for the sales team, in compliance with company policies and protocols
  • Investigate, analyze and corrects issues related to CRM (Salesforce) administration
  • Develop and maintain a library of continuously updated “customer-ready” presentations at multiple technical levels for use during pre-sales engagements.

Requirements

Here’s what you bring:

  • The education. You hold a BS/MSc in Engineering degree with a focus on Power Systems or relevant experience.
  • The experience. You have X plus years’ experience working in a Sales Operations function in the Software or electrical systems industries with strong utility industry knowledge with combination of technical sales and technical writing experience in the energy market.
  • The work. Demonstrated experience with CRM systems like Salesforce with expertise in Sales Operations processes. Keeps abreast of current methodologies and best practices. Salesforce Administration certification is a strong asset.
  • Communication skills. A skilled listener and communicator, strong written and oral communication skills, can communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences and provide high-level summaries of the solution to the C-suite.
  • Technical Aptitude. You have strong analytical, problem diagnosis and creative problem-solving skills with the ability to identify, recommend and implement changes and improvements.
  • Skills: You are an expert in the latest MS Office suite and can learn new tools fast to bring flair to the final deliverable. You are a customer centric professional with great attention to detail.
  • The excellence. You get things done on-time and within the project deadlines. And have the i nitiative to see gaps in process or knowledge and seek to fill them.
  • The teamwork. You are self-motivated collaborator that can also work as a successful independent researcher.
  • The innovation. You have the ability to anticipate problems and provide strategic, creative, quick reliable and scalable solutions to complex problems

Nice to have:

  • Highly familiar with emerging energy industry trends, regulations, and implications on utility customers in DER management, microgrids, distribution planning, SCADA, and asset management.
  • Technical writing capabilities.
