SUMMARY

Nexamp is seeking a Manager, Solar Asset Management to grow and lead a team in managing a portfolio of Distributed Generation assets with a focus in Community Solar. This geographically diverse portfolio includes PV-tied energy storage and is fast approaching more than 300 MWs of operational assets.  If you are interested in joining the clean energy revolution at one of the best places to work, then this is the position for you. 

We are looking for a results-oriented leader to join our Asset Management team in Boston as a Manager, Solar Asset Management. You will lead a team in ensuring optimal financial performance of our operational DG assets while smoothly onboarding new assets into a growing portfolio. You will coordinate with our accounting, O&M, Capital Markets and Revenue Operations team to budget for, report on, and manifest exemplary mechanical and financial performance. You will lead the team in managing our project’s contractual obligations and external stakeholders including banks, investors, landowners, and local municipalities. You will lead the team in lowering operational expenses with a focus on Real and Property Taxes, while exploring opportunities for increasing portfolio value through revenue growth, contract negotiations and recapitalization opportunities. You will be a key player in proving the long-term value of DG and Community Solar assets.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure the team meets deadlines for monthly and quarterly project and portfolio reporting
  • Research relevant solar legislation in various states to optimize the value from solar arrays and satisfy state and national reporting requirements
  • Coordinate with other business units to optimize our portfolio’s value and identify opportunities for improved performance
  • Ensure portfolio-wide timelines for and the accuracy of lease, tax, O&M and other project-level expenses while reducing these expenses when possible
  • Ensure the timely recognition of state incentives and other revenue streams
  • Coordinate with our Markets and Trading group to optimize revenues from environmental attributes and energy storage assets
  • Work with Revenue Operations and Sales teams to ensure optimal offtake mix for our Community Solar projects
  • Assist FP&A on annual budgeting while using operational project data to refine financing assumptions for new projects
  • Coordinate with our finance teams on recapitalization and refinancing opportunities
  • Oversee new project onboarding in different regional territories
  • Advocate for team priorities at internal and external leadership meetings
  • Build dashboards and reports that clearly communicate mechanical and financial performance to internal and external stakeholders
  • Lead integration and implementation of new software
  • Serve as a lead conduit between our finance, accounting, O&M, and revenue operations teams

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Ideal candidate must be enthusiastic, self-motivated, results-oriented, and operate well in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. 

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance, accounting, engineering, or related technical field
  • 2+ years in Distributed Generation Asset Management preferred
  • Experience managing individuals or a team preferred 
  • Ability to work on and prioritize multiple projects concurrently
  • Exemplary written and verbal communication skills
  • Full proficiency with MS Word, PowerPoint, and especially Excel
  • Experience with business software platforms like Salesforce and NetSuite
  • Experience re-vamping and improving upon existing cross-team processes
  • Understanding of Community Solar, Net Metering, and other DG policies preferred 

Preferred but Optional Skills:

  • Knowledge of clean energy technologies and an understanding of various clean energy markets
  • Experience managing Community Solar PV Assets
  • Experience with Power BI or similar business analytics tool
  • Experience with battery storage as an asset
  • Experience negotiating contracts and contract amendments
  • Solar project finance and/or project development
  • Real Estate and Property Tax management and abatements
  • Experience with developing and tracking Key Performance Indicators
