Job Description

“The battery is the technology of our time.” -The Economist

Voltaiq is an Enterprise Battery Intelligence software company. Our data platform brings unprecedented analytics, visualization, and predictive capabilities to any company with a battery-powered business model. World-leading brands — including global automakers in Detroit and Germany, household-name tech giants, and decacorn startups — depend on Voltaiq software to accelerate product development, optimize performance, ensure safety and reliability, and unlock financial value in their products. Our high-powered team is composed of battery industry veterans, PhD scientists, a highly skilled product and engineering team, and an advisory board of C-level industry execs, all of whom are passionate about enabling the global energy transition. Voltaiq is headquartered in Berkeley, CA, serving customers around the world.

The Role:

Voltaiq was founded with the conviction that world-class data analytics are the key to unlocking the full potential of batteries across every application. Today, the data platform is the beating heart of the Voltaiq product offering. Our platform onboards data from battery test hardware, logs from battery systems in the field (vehicles, grid storage, mobile electronics), ERP and MES systems and more, synthesizing insights that drive positive business outcomes for our customers.  As we grow rapidly, we are looking for an experienced Product Manager to own and drive the roadmap and execution of our data platform, including data integrations, data modeling, and APIs for both internal and external consumption. In this role you’ll develop deep expertise and empathy for how our customers analyze battery data to improve the performance of mobile devices, electric vehicles, and the power grid.  You’ll work closely with our Data Engineering, Applications Engineering, and Sales teams as well as the Senior Product Manager to build APIs and integrations that meet our internal product needs as well as those of our customers and ecosystem partners. If you love data and you’re passionate about accelerating the transition to a battery-powered future, this role is for you!

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the roadmap for the evolution of Voltaiq’s data platform, driving alignment across our commercial product roadmap, partner strategy, and internal priorities around security, stability, scalability, and performance.
  • Own the development of the Voltaiq data platform, in close collaboration with the Data Engineering team.
  • Coordinate closely with the Senior Product Manager to ensure the data platform continues to meet the requirements of our user applications.
  • Perform detailed discovery with our internal Applications Engineers and Sales Engineers, as well as customers and partners, to understand evolving needs around data formats, integrations, and APIs.
  • Develop deep knowledge of the Voltaiq platform’s architecture, data pipelines, data formats, and analytical capabilities.
  • Craft concise requirements for data platform features and APIs that are clear, prioritized, and articulate value and benefits.
  • Translate the requirements of large data initiatives into smaller, actionable pieces to deliver in increments.
  • Maintain and prioritize the data platform backlog.
  • Work with QA engineers and other engineers to develop use cases that support end-to-end test scenarios.
  • Up to 20% travel to customer sites and tradeshows (once business travel resumes, timelines TBD)

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years in an enterprise SaaS product management role, with a focus on data analytics, APIs, and integrations.
  • Experience owning external-facing REST APIs as a product.
  • Demonstrated ability to bring data-oriented products to market through creative problem solving and ruthless focus on prioritization to deliver value to users.
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal, with demonstrated ability to collaborate with remote teams to achieve extraordinary results.
  • Attention to detail, with a personal drive to “get it right”.
  • Ability to strike the right balance between shipping features and perfection.
  • Proactive and solution-oriented, with a natural inclination to find answers and drive results in a loosely-structured environment with minimal direction.
  • Experience working with agile software development practices, and related process management software (e.g. JIRA / Scrum).
  • A passion for working to accelerate the global transition to clean energy.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced startup environment is a plus.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Undergraduate or Graduate technical degree with a materials, electrical, mechanical, or electrochemical focus is a plus, but not a requirement.

Competitive salary plus equity and full benefits.

Voltaiq is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to achieving a diverse workforce through application of its equal opportunity and nondiscrimination policy, in all aspects of employment.
